The Common Room / Re: FamilySearch "Legacy NFS Source" accuracy - Italy

I am pleased for you that you do have a resolution. Your problem it seems to have  been one that must happen time and time again. Where some one has the same forename and surname as another in the same area/district, and in the same time frame. Or even the same names etc, etc, as others in the same district and time frame. I was researching a William Henbest, and thinking to myself, Henbest is not that common a name. Bet you don't get too many of them to the £ pound. There were five William Henbests all in the same parish of Bramshaw. Four from William 1735-1775 Henbest as father ,and a grandfather. and one from his first cousin once removed Robert 1743-1812 Henbest. Who named his youngest child William Henbest  in 1783. Yes the youngest son of  William 1735-1775 Henbest was a Robert 1767-1832 Henbest.

I would like to say that I believe that your initial answer is the most coherent explanation that i have seen to date for certain family trees on the familysearch.org website. That most family trees there in the early days seemed to be works of fiction. That even today we are plagued by so called Legacy record family trees.

Hampshire & IOW Completed Lookup Requests / Re: *COMPLETED* Mary Beasant 1783

If I may .I suspect that the Hinvis or Henbest name was from the Sarah Henbest that married a  around the late 1700's a cousin of hers. Her faqther Robert 1743-1812 Henbest  a Farmer of Bramshaw married a Sarah 1745-1783 or 87  Lovell of Minstead on the 1st of May either 1757 or 68. In Bramshaw Church. His first child was Sarah the year as fter the wedding. And the next year  was her sister Mary named after his Mother. Now just before this time in Minstead Sarah Lovell's older sister wed to a chap called Bessant ( here I confess I am doing this from memory, and do not have access to my notes ) But he has the same Surname as the Query was speculating about. And when Sarah 1768 or 1769 Henbest ( in Bramshaw records  it is Henvist at this time  ) gets married she married her cousin the son of her mother's sister, whose name might have been John. That is a John Bessant . In his Will of 1812 Robert gives her £ 5 pounds because she does not get to choose any furniture and pots and pans etc.. Plus for her own personal  use he gives her £ 150 pounds. as he does to her younger sister Elizabeth Young. And a £ 100 pounds to a granddaughter Mary Ann Plenty. The Family Farm and all kit goes to the youngest son William 1783-1832 Henbest. Robert the eldest takes the money. Including him the eldest son Robert takes money, dies young, or takes the money to become an Artist in London. and the next son in Line gets the Farm.
