Aberdeenshire / John Allan
« on: Sunday 10 February 19 18:59 GMT (UK)  »
Hi can anyone help please. I am trying to find any information about John Allan (deceased) from Aberdeen. He was a CSM in the 101st Rocket A-A. Battery, Home Guard and in 1945 received a Certificate of Meritorious Service at a dinner given to the men in the Royal Athenaeum. His address then was 3 Logie Gardens and was still living there in 1960 - shown on the electoral roll with Elizabeth C I Allan presumably his wife. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,

I'm still trying to find information on the late John (Jake) Allan. Again the only information that I have is that in 1950 he lived in Logie gardens, Aberdeen and was at that time a dairy worker. This information is from my late husband's birth certificate (his parents were not married). Any information would be much appreciated as my daughter is desperate to know her father/grandfather's history. Thank you.

Hi,
I'm trying to find information on John (Jake) Allan and his ancestry. All that I know about him is that in 1949/50 he lived in Logie Gardens, Aberdeen and at that time was a dairy worker. He was probably born between 1915-1925 and was dead by 1969. Any information would be much appreciated. Cheers, Lesley

Leitrim / McManus, Mailwood, Leitrim

Hi everyone,
I am trying to find the families of my great-great-grandparents John and Ann Ward. I believe that John was born in Leitrim in 1824 although I am not sure where exactly and Ann was born in Mailwood (Mail-Wood), Leitrim in 1830/1. Apparently she was a McManus and her father was Hugh McManus.
They had several children, some born abroad as John was in the army. These are the ones that I am aware of
Mary A b 1853 in Padiham, Lancashire
John Joseph b 1857 in Hong Kong, China
Clarissa b 1859 in Cape of Good Hope, South Africa
Catherine b 1861 in Cape of Good Hope   "       "
Sarah J b 1863 in Aldershot, Hampshire
Ellen b 1865 in Ramsbottom, Lancashire and
Thomas b 1869 in Ramsbottom,     "

Any information on either family would be gratefully received and I would be delighted if there are any other family descendants I could be put in touch with. Thank you,
Lesley

Hi everyone,
I posted a reply earlier to this post, but would like to pass on a bit more information in the hope of finding out more. My grandfather was Joseph Harte b 1870 (originally Hart - the 'e' was added by the army). He was married in 1918 to Margaret McGrath, a widow, formerly married to a Regan, who had 4 children that I know of - Mary Bridget (Pidgie) b 1904, John Joseph (Jack) b 1906, Michael b c 1908 and Edward Francis (Ted) b 1913. Michael was the only one to stay in Birr. Joseph and Margaret had 5 children (again that I know of) - Anthony b c 1918, Elizabeth b 1919, Charles b 1921, Joseph b 1923 and my mum Margaret (Beanie) 1924.
I believe that my granddad's parents were Michael Hart and Eliza Corboy and that his siblings were Ralph, Rody and Eliza although I have recently come across a Peter and I am almost certain that my mum mentioned an uncle Rory also.
If anyone has any more information or is a part of the family I would love to hear from you. Many thanks,
Lesley

Hi Brendan,

My name is Lesley and I am your mum's cousin. Your granddad (Tony) is my mum's (Margaret, known as Beanie) brother. It would be fantastic if we could get in contact.
