I have both Findlay's and Ritchie's in my family tree.  I would be interested to share information.

Best regards,
Kim

There is a J.S Cruickshank in the military records. I have no idea if this is my John Scott Cruickshank or not.  I don't discount anything but never heard anything about him being in the military.

Hi Rosie
Thank you. Yes, that is the John Scott Cruickshank in the census records that I am speaking of.  I did see that departure on that ship and have saved it.  Looking for information on what happened to him in South Africa.

South Africa / Searching for information on John Scott Cruickshank

My great uncle John Scott Cruickshank also known as Jack was born 11 March 1872 in Scotland. He   died in 1902 in Dundee Natal South Africa.  Family lore has it that he was a diamond miner with two other men, possibly brothers from Aberdeen, Scotland.  I have searched for his outbound ship record and have been unable to locate it. I am looking for any information on  when he may have immigrated and his cause of death.   I am also curious to know if it is true he had an interest in a diamond mine.

hello,
I am uncertain as to how old this post is.  The old church in White Hills is gone however the graveyard remains. I was there in 1999.  I have pictures of the remains of the church and many, many of the headstone with some of family names(Watson, Findlay) you are looking for.  There is another cemetery they call the new cemetery. Please contact me via email at kimolyn@cfl.rr.com
