Armed Forces / Re: Ernest Sykes V.C.

There is a bit of an update to the locomotive saga so I felt somebody had to get the ball rolling at Lives and I added a short story . You'll find it at
https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/4341321.
AND
this is a link to the cited article at http://www.lms-patriot.org.uk/locomotives-named-after-victoria-cross-recipients. The date of his V.C. is stated correctly and the whole site is worth looking at.

Census and Resource Discussion / Re: Results of Census 2021 Consultation
« on: Thursday 19 November 15 14:54 GMT (UK)  »
Has anybody else received a notification about the latest consultation earlier this year (June 4- August 15, 2015) ? I participated and I have been sent an alert on their initial summary of the  2015 consultation.

"The report provides a brief topic by topic summary of responses and includes summary tables about the numbers of data users, agreement with ONS’s initial view, and the impact on users if data were not collected."

It can be found as a download at the ONS site

Canada / Re: Library & Archives Canada Database
« on: Thursday 19 November 15 14:32 GMT (UK)  »
LAC have been making some good progress lately on the C.E.F. attestation project ,they are about 1/3 through. We are so lucky in Canada to have this much more complete resource even if some of it was misfiled.
I've also just heard through another forum that some of the WWI film footage the LAC holds can be uploaded by the archives to You Tube. I am not sure of the process but I will ask my source because this is great news and hopefully applies to provincial archives as well.

Can anyone help me with this uniform and idea of date.
Hi Terry,
I may have missed it but do you know which filling plant Florence worked at?
Thanks

I know Hayes is where my grandmother worked and she was living around Fulham. I am very curious about how she got there, she was supporting the family because my grandfather was disabled.

If you have discovered any munitions workers I would be interested in any details you can share. My grandmother worked at Hayes in WWI.

Thank you for your interest.... Anything you feel adds to the Life , for example copying and pasting the citation as a story with date of the citation will add it to the time line. A photo , a personal recollection whatever you would like to share.

Just as an example here is how I have chosen to add to the story of a Canadian V.C. recipient.

Naturally I hope that eventually a more personal remembrance might also be contributed.

World War One / Re: Unrecorded VC holder.

Stewart is recorded ( without his V.C. but with a medal index card) at the Lives of the First World War website.
All the chat that has developed would make a marvelous addition as he was not remembered until today! Can I encourage all those who have chimed in to remember him, you only need to sign in to make contribution. I have started the ball rolling.
