The witnesses to the marriage were Susanne Thornton (who signed with a cross) and Geo Jeayes. I know Hannah was in Service when she married James.

I would like to find out why James does not feature on the Coventry or Nottingham Census of 1871 or 1881.  Sometime after George was born in 1873 in Nottingham and up to 1881 Hannah was widowed. I can't find a burial record for James. Any ideas?

Thank you for the welcome. James Holt married Hannah Webb in Coventry in 1859 but went to Dundalk with his regiment until he left the army in 1865. His daughter Matilda was born in Coventry in 1862 and son George in 1871 but I have no record of him on a census. His wife was in the 1881 census living with George and her daughter Matilda in Nottingham.

I did a search myself on familysearch org and found one for 1832
James Holt born 22 April 1832 in Rochdale
Father James (weaver) Mother Sally
This looks odds on the one I am looking for. Now I have to look up his parents.

James Holt was born around 1832 I believe in Middleton. He is the son of James Holt a weaver and according to the lads marriage certificate he was aged 27 in 1859 when he married in Coventry. He joined the 4th Light Dragoons in 1855. Any more info on the family would be appreciated.
