Cumberland / Edward Stanley Graham
« on: Sunday 04 December 05 17:26 GMT (UK)  »
I have information showing that an Edward Graham was "christened" 13 FEB 1874 at Blackford, Cumberland.  The mother is shown as Jane Graham.   My interest is in an Edward Stanley Graham, born about 1873, whose mother could quite possibly be a Jane Graham.   Edward Stanley Graham lived with Wm. & Jane Graham family (shown as grandson) of Kirklinton and they had a daughter Jane who was about 20 yrs. of age when Edward was born.   I am interested in determining Edward Stanley Graham's  mother and father.   Is there any other info usually associated with these christenings or is that the extent of it?  Can I locate a birth record for Edward Stanley Graham (the mother may not be Jane Graham).

There was a neighbour to Wm & Jane Graham named Elizabeth Graham who had a son Edward, it is possible that this is the Edward Stanley Graham I am seeking.

Thanks.  The unwed Jane aged 36 is about 9 yrs. too old I think, so probably not the right one, but could certainly be a relation as could all the Grahams around Kirklinton I guess.   Edward Graham, b Dec. 1872 is a possible.

My sister is also researching in other areas.  I will have to contact her to determine if she has researched Robert's marriage, I know we have the birth certificate for Robert showing Jane Graham as mother and father unknown.

I will try those other sources of info.  Thanks again.

Iria - thx, I have the 1891 census info as well, showing him as 18 yrs. old but then he is gone.  The only other info I have is a recollection by my mother that she saw a pic. of him in military uniform.

Annie - I should have noted in my original post that he was from Kirklinton, Cumberland, England.  On the 1891 census there was also another grandson living with Wm. & Jane Graham, Robert William Stanley Graham (this is my mother's father).  Wm. & Jane had an unwed daughter named Jane who gave birth to Robert.   On Robert's birth cert. young Jane is the mother and the father is unknown.  I am thinking that Edward Stanley may have been a grandson under a similar situation, perhaps even a second son of unwed Jane.  Our real goal is to establish the father of Robert and the eventual whereabouts of mother Jane, but we thought perhaps establishing Edward's father/mother  might help us out.  Unwed Jane disappears after Robert's birth and Robert was actually shown as a nursing child (2 yrs. old) with another family (Nelson family) on the 1881 census.  Unwed Jane either died (no sign of death cert. yet) or left home or married (no marriage info to be found).    Other than the military picture, I have nothing else on Edward.  I thank you for your interest and assistance.

Looking for any info on Edward Stanley Graham, b: abt 1873.  He is shown on 1891 census as a grandson living with William & Jane Graham, 18 yrs. old and a blacksmith apprentice.  He is gone on 1901 census.  My mother said she saw a picture of him in a military uniform which had been sent to her father, she thinks from India but that is speculation.  No further military info known.  Trying to determine his parentage.  Any help is appreciated,  thanks in advance.

Susan & Rosaleen

I am completely new to this, just signed up today.  I have an interest in Elizabeth WRIGHT, born abt 1830-35 I am guessing as she was married Feb. 25/1856 to Richard Miller in Longtown England.  In the event you come across an Elizabeth that fits the time frame would you reply or email me at katiekubota@mcsnet.ca.  Thx.
