Hi Vanessa! surprised to hear from you again. My family history has been lying fallow but still interested, not sure I have added much since we last had contact. I still have an address for you but the one you used here is different,I had thought to try the one I had already. I have had some contact with that line and pretty sure that what we have is right I will try to sort out how to do a private e mail---am out of practise on Roots Chat but still read it in hopes.

Yes I am with you there although I do have some surprisingly late births. There is a Jane Margaret Parry baptised 13th May 1815 Father Thomas and Mother Mary in Bilston so I suppose that could be her but then why say born Shrewsbury in the 61 census? Thanks for the help but I suspect I shall get no further. I will try the one b Bilston by looking for her parents in the 41 census see if they still have a Jane with them whereas mine is married by then.

Thank you Garstonite and Carole W for the replies which I have been slow to reply to as Roots was down.
I have Jane Parry b in Shrewsbury on '61 census when she was a widow and the children b Walsall. but '51 says, as for all the rest of the family' b Bilston and '41 says born in county for all, which I take as the numerator going  ditto ditto--I have seen that many times.. The children are John 1836, Sarah '42 Henry '44 Richard '51 and Selina '57. None of them obviously from the Miles, Patten side. and the only possible for husband Richard's birth is to a John and Mary. They are back on my limit of knowledge. I can't see her any later than '61 but have found 4 inconclusive deaths in Walsall 1864-66
On the print out of the parish register I have she is given as a spinster.

I have found just one Jane Parry (sometimes Perry) that fits although born earlier than I thought but nothing between her birth and marriage to Richard Jones at Rushall Bloxwith. Can anyone fill in any gaps please

That's great, I can now tidy up that page in my records, so nice to know that there are still mutual descendants around. Thank you very much cider drinker--have one on me.

Going sideways here but does anyone know anything about Frederick George Taylor b 1890, m to Ellen Jane Leach. They were born and at first lived in the Burton on Trent area. They must have been in Nuneaton later as Ellen was the informant for my grandmother's death there in 1915.  Edwin Percival Challoner was his step brother and I know nothing about him other than his birth.

No help I'm sure but one of my father's best friends was a Stokes and it's not that common a name, I believe he was Bill, known as Stokey and lived in Stockingford and had attended the Stockingford Council School, that would have been about-- mmm the start of WW1? He was married but I can't remember any mention of children. Good luck.

Thanks Jennifer, I wonder which online tree it is in, the two I know would have told me if they had solved that problem. Must have someone else on the trail!
