FOSS family of Taratahi Clareville Carterton.... I have a recent photograph of Samuel James Beart FOSS taken at Dernacourt only last week, kindly emailed to me here at Clareville Am in touch with Sydney member of the Foss family.  Cannot access ROOTSWEB still, but feel sure there is a person of the same name in USA. with BEART as well.. site is down completely.. Where the Foss family were at Taratahi is literally up the road from where I am at Clareville, have seen the parents grave at Mangatinoaka as well. had to get the local council to alter their records as they had THOMAS FOSS, I said he was Samuel married to Mary Pool! Took them time to believe me! Would love for a family member to get back to me please, as someone wanted to do Samuel the soldier for the WW1 project. thank you. Clareville Taphophile

when i joined the staff, the store was being rebuilt, so no staff quarters upstairs, check out with Westminster Archives on it, I know another store that I went to be with had staff quarters in Goodge St.. that was Bourne & Hollingsworth St..  as had a friend living in, her home was Bridgewater, Somerset.. Another fond memory of Gorringes, they used to have a lot of the guardsmen from the local Barracks working there.. lovely working in Buckingham Palace Road as every morning the Guards would march to the Palace and Band Playing, often we would request a certain tune to play on passing the store!  especially around Birthday times!!!

Brockenhurst.  I was there in 2004 laying a wreath fo rthe Kiwi soldiers buried at St. Nicholas Churchyard... lovely church! Number One General Hospital was at Brockenhurst...  I could put you in touch with someone in UK, who may be able to assist, Chris may know more about this soldier Edwin Andrews.. nothing ventured, nothing gained!  90 Kiwi soldiers buried in the churchyard..

Carterton reporting!

Found several mentions of CRANCH on Papers Past site, Auckland. Taranaki and Carterton... so assume several different families with the surname..  Never heard of this surname previously, but like most names, find it so interesting!! Have even asked some locals in Town, they had never come across the name previously..

I will check Parkvale School shortly, have their book here at home, save me going out!
