Dear L,
It is many years now since I last searched my alderman family.  I am now vision impaired too.  I used to contribute to the Alderman one name study.  I would think after this length of time the people who organised it are no longer with us.  Perhaps you could Google the Swanbourne famiky history or genealogy .
I do remember a bit about the Alderman Anne’s of Vernham Dean.  As Inremember there was a name change becoming more Annets .  I had no connection with this line of Alderman’s.  Please forgive my typing errors because of my poor eyesight.  Regards

Thank you for your explanation. I was able to view the images.

 I agree that Mary may have been born outside Surrey.  In fact, there are only a few people by the name of Lowman  recorded in Surrey in the 1841 census, and then some not born in the County. 
I am now taking the long shot that George, her second son, could be named after her father. George  is also my gggrandfather.  The majority of this family migrated to Australia in the 1850s.

Thank you so much, Goldie61. Your information is very helpful.  While the licence did not reveal all about Mary, I know a little more in that she was of the parish of Esher and over 21. There is possible more about her or her family on the damaged parts of the Esher parish Register. I may never know more but I shall keep looking.
Familysearch has much more information since last I used it.

Hi,
Mary Lowman b ca1767; married by licence, William Warham on 17 Dec 1790: at Esher.  Their children were baptised at the same church.  Mary died there 28 April 1833 aged 66,

She has been my brick wall for many years. Now with my fading eyesight, I would like some help with her parents’ names and origins. A starting point, I think, is the marriage licence of 1790.  Are there any available licence records for this period?

I do know that the Esher parish records I read on film were difficult to read because of damage. I have searched wills but found no links..

Through wills, I have linked William Wareham, Warham back to Yorkshire. Although at marriage he was a grocer, living at Hamptonwick, Richmond.  Two of their grandaughters worked for the Royal household.

Later Warehams were non-conformists. Thank you.

I remember being in the Junior Red Cross at school in North Queensland. My Dad was the Head Teacher and keenly supported the introduction.  I do not know how it all came about.  My mother, like the other mothers, made my red cape. We had a veil  and we wore a white dress.  I remember marching in theAnzac Parade and our photo was published in the local newspaper.  We were given first aid instruction and I remember bandaging and arm slings.  I think my Dad took these classes as he had first aid qualifications.

I wish to advise that I now have a copy of the source image for my Dad. Here is what I found:
 
The reproduction was excellent. Foremost at the top of the form in bold is the warning that supplying false information etc attracts a penalty of Imprisonment with Hard Labour for 3 years.

The form was filled by an unknown hand.. The usual information about parents including their ages, date and place of marriage.
Names and ages of living children of the marriage and of previous marriage of the mother. Sex only for any deceased child.
Signatures of the Dr and nurse present at birth. And the mother, (my Grandmother) The form was dated 26 days after the birth.  I would think that the form could have been filled in before this date.

In all, very worthwhile for those who want knowledge of their family at a particular point in time. Regards, Gazania.

Thank you all for replying so promptly. And you have all been so helpful.

I have just realised that my Dad’s birth is now online and the source image is also available. As I already have a copy of his birth certificate, I can now buy the source image and make comparisons.

Australia / Historical Source Images - Queensland births

I am interested in buying a historical source image for a birth registered in Queensland in 1911.

I would like to hear from anyone who has seen one of these images. I have expectations of seeing a form filled in by a parent. Or would I be better off buying a copy of the actual birth certificate for accuracy of information. Eg medical witnesses. Thank you, gazania

I wish I could have been at the wharf on the Brisbane river, Moreton bay, in 1846 with my ggggrandfather, James Fox, a former convict, to meet James Benjamin Fox, my gggrandfather, aged 11 who had sailed alone from the UK to join his father. The son had not seen his father since he was a toddler.

I also wonder how  ggggrandmother, Mary Ann Fox, was feeling after saying goodbye to James Jnr. And his sister, too, Jane Mary Fox.
