Thank you Dundee so very much for sending all this wonderful information on the Padgett family.  You did alot of research I would never had thought in checking out the Family Search site.  I was going by Harry instead of Henry so that is probably why I couldn't find anything.  When people use variants or nicknames it makes it very difficult for the researcher doesn't it!  So very much appreciated Dundee!! :) :) Have a nice weekend!

Good Morning!

I am looking for information on a Harry Padgett born 1893 in Churwell Yorkshire England.  His parents were Mother:  Mary Elizabeth Sampson/Padgett Born 1864 Died 1903 and Father Benjamin Padgett born:  1861 died 1934.  He had two siblings Hedley Padgett 1885-1963 and Atkinson Padgett 1888-1959.  Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can find nothing on Harry except his birth year.

Thank You!

Hi Monica!

Thank you so much for replying to my message.  I have not been able to find a birth record for Robert I bought some credits from Scotslandpeople and tried finding his birth registration using his Mothers maiden name Muir but no luck at all.  I did contact Quarriers via email and it will cost approximately $105.00 Canadian

for information plus you have to be relative and supply proof you are who you say you are by sending copy of drivers licence etc. etc. unfortunately he is not my relative.  I am doing a family history on this family for my son-in-law and he is not sure he wants to go to all the trouble of sending documents not to mention the money.  I would really like to do this history for him by giving him information on his Scotland family but I have hit a brick wall by not knowing information about Jennie Muir or her husband Robert Ferguson I cannot continue.  Being the stubborn person that I am I can't give up not yet anyways!  Thanks Again!

Hello Everyone!  I am hoping someone might have information on a Robert John Ferguson Born September 24 1895 in Kilmarnock Ayeshire Scotland.  On his Marriage certificate it lists his parents as being Robert John Ferguson and Jennie Muir Ferguson.  He married Keitha Long on April 18 1928 in Belleville Ontario Canada   I have tried to find a birth register for him using Scotslandpeople but have had no luck.  In April of 1907 he arrived in Nova Scotia Canada as a British Home Child from the Quarrier's Orphan Homes of Scotland. He also fought in World War 1 enlisting in September of 1914.  My question is if anyone is researching this gentleman if they have any information regarding his parents or his life in Scotland before being sent to Canada I would appreciate any help.  Because I have his date of birth I thought it would be easy to find out about his parents but I cannot unfortunately.  Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank You!

Good Morning Kenneth!

In answer to your Mothers question regarding the Shields family in Scotland my Great Grandfather John Shields (he is the one I cannot find a birth record for) and his wife Matilda/Watton Shields moved along with three of their children from Ireland to Greenock Scotland around 1883 I am not sure why they moved perhaps it was so John could get better work, there were lots of jobs on the docks working in the sugar industry  The oldest son William Shields who is my Grandfather met and married Agnes Knox in Greenock in 1903.  Their oldest son John is my Father he was born in Greenock in 1908  John and Matilda immigrated to Canada in 1907 and William and Agnes immigrated to Canada in 1911.  They all settled in the Vineland area of Ontario Canada.

I am afraid I do not know of any Shields relatives in Vancouver B.C.   The only Shields family I know live in Ontario Canada.

Any questions you might have regarding the Shields in Canada I will try and answer for you.  Thank you again for helping me and hopefully on your trip to Belfast to visit Joanne she might be able to answer some questions.  If you want to communicate with me outside of the Roots Chat send me your email address it might be easier to communicate that way and we could send family pictures if you like.

Best Wishes
Ginny

Hello Kenneth!

Thank you so much for sending the information on the Shields family I did not have some of those dates so that really helped me out .  I am doing a family history on the Shields it is a challenge to find information on them especially prior to civil registration there are virtually no records so I have really had to hunt and not living in Northern Ireland I can't investigate on my own for example church records, I live in Nova Scotia Canada.  My  biggest challenge is finding a record for the birth of my Great Grandfather John Shields son of Samuel and Margaret I estimate he was born around 1855/6 and the only reason I know that he is the son of Margaret and Samuel is from his marriage registration which lists those two as his parents he would be the oldest child.  I have a question for you do you know if Margaret Martin/Shields died Nov. 8 1907 at the Gourock Parochail Ayslum Institution in Scotland?  I have a death registration for a Margaret Shields but am not 100% sure if it is her.  I am curious as to why she was in Scotland .  Any information you could give me on the Shields family would be greatly appreciated and if I can help you with information I would be happy to do that.  Hope to hear from you again!

Best Wishes
Ginny Dion

Hello Sinan!

I can't begin to thank you enough for all the research you did on my Great Grandmother Matilda Watton it is so much appreciated.  I believe also there is a connection between between Ann/Annie Watton and Matilda and I am going to work on making a connection between the two and perhaps be able to find out more on that family.

Have a good day!  You have made mine that is for sure!!   :)
