There  is a monument at the beginning of the East Pier in Dun Laoghaire and on many walks with my father he always pointed out to me that we were related to the "Edward Crowe" on the monument.

On going back over the earlier posts, I realize now that Edward Crowe is the son of my grandfather's twin sister Elizabeth.

Pic enclosed.

(apologies for not replying as I was abroad)...Thats fantastic stuff thanks very much. My father told me Christopher was "laid out" in a sailors suit on the dresser...

A journalist friend sent me this reliable site....there are 200,000 people in the world with the surname of Hitler in the world today- but only 155 Mundows!

What do you think of the locations?

Thats amazing_ no doubt about it, thats him. I have applied for a copy of his Seamans Discharge book from Southampton. I'm going to start drawing a tree and put it up for your input and suggestions....or maybe you have started one?

My father told me also that he had a brother  Christopher, who died aged 5 or 6 from TB.
I know also he had one or two sisters who were nuns and worked in Africa all their lives. I'll ask the priest (Henry's son). I also know that my father's mother's maiden name was Byrne ( I have her prayer book)

I dont get the Colgan connection? The link says its a Colgan and Window marriage?

I tidied up grandfathers grave recently and got a son included whose name was never added. I'll upload it now.

The 1901 Census is a branch of the family but its not part of my lot! I remember my father telling me there were two branches of the family. (Enc 1901 Census form also for this other branch. There is a William but the ages wouldn't tie in)

Yes Henry was my fathers brother. I spent ages trying to find that grave in Deans Grange as I didnt realize he used the Gaelic !

I dont know who the Patrick is.

It looks like then that my grandfathers father was Robert Mundow.

We'll be able to draw a family tree soon !

Enc my fathers gravestone and also his father.

Thanks for that Hasta. I'd love to have a copy so will try and go there now.

Just found a William Mundow marriage to Anne Walsh 9th Feb 1839 in the Parish of St Mary in Dublin. I'll ask the cousin who is a priest where that is.

Found this 1930: my father bottom left ( Billy)
