hello 'Hanford'
just reading through your posts & was about to write to let you know where Addingsley's Yard was,
when I came across the one from Terese. She kindly found & sent you map privately :D

My great, great, grandmother was their next door neighbours, I thought you would be interested to hear :)
1891 No.11 Addingsley's Yard the HOLT family:
Ellen widow age 41 Charwoman born Wakefield with children & granddaughter:
Bertha 18 Liquorice Hand born Castleford
Hannah 13
Fred 11 both born Wakefield
Annie 4 (my great, grandmother)
Lilly age 2 (all born Pontefract)
Mary Ellen age 5 months (Bertha's daughter)

Ellen PRUDHAM was married first to Arthur HOLT 20 Feb 1870 in All Saints, Wakefield
then to John Tom WILKINSON 1896 Pontefract
I have them living in Tanshelf with youngest children 1901 & 1911
Never been able to locate any of the HOLT family on the 1881 Census and a few
have also kindly looked for me
good luck with your research,
Mo

Hello Sharren,

just come across your interest in Tanshelf. Are you still researching this?
I once lived in the housing estate that was demolished in the early 1970's
with my parents & siblings.
This estate was built in the late 1890's and can be found on the 1901 & 1911
Census. Before that Tanshelf covered a larger area around Halfpenny Lane,
Love Lane and Wakefield Road with all streets inbetween. Of which Queens St.
is part of, running between Halfpenny Lane & Love Lane.
Years ago Tanshelf Station was on the side of bridge next to Queens' Hotel,
(we often went on day trips & holidays from here) but closed down. Years
later a new one was opened but on the other side of bridge.
I loved Tanshelf, the history, and of Pontefract. Also doing my family tree so
would be interested to know if I can help in any way? I have few facebook
groups that would, I'm sure, be a great help to you - Down Tansh' is one such,
best wishes, Mo  :)
