Hi forfarian, thanks for that, yes that sounds like our dorothy, my mum told me she died quite young, and also, now iv got the correct spelling of the surname dixon, lol,  the site you mentioned freebmd, can i access that?

Hi Ev, liesel was german, her maiden name was schmidt, born in Cologne

Hi Rosie, thanks for the reply, unfortunately i dont have any dates, only a memory of mum telling me that her mum had a sister called liesel who married a dick dickson, and had kids called harry and dorothy, dorothy died while young, and harry moved to scotland, i can only assume it would have been around the 30's but cant be sure..

Hi all, im looking into my mothers family tree, and have discovered that she had a cousin in maybe Edinburgh, his name was harry dickson or dixon, he moved to scotland from southampton..harry was married and his wife was called Bella, maybe short for Isabella?  Anybody on here able to help me with these names ?

Hi, im trying to find any info on my grandmother Katharina Schmidt, she was born in Cologne Germany around 1901/1902, her parents were George and elizabeth,  George was german, Elizabeth was dutch, i think, this is all i have to go on, can anybody help me with sites that i can check ?  Thanks..
