Hello Derek,
Thanks for making contact. Just discovered your post.
It's the original Sherman Lodge I'm interested in.
Although I haven't got documents connected with the house with the Spencer family name attached, I do have them referenced on graves and baptisms at the house. It says they were born and died at the Sherman Lodge.
I found a newspaper article saying that it was sold 15 Apr 1812. I'm guessing this is when my Spencer relatives sold it, but it's possible they rented it for decades.
The first mention are John Spencer and his wife Dorothy who died at Sherman Lodge 1732 and 1728 respectively. All their 8 children were born and died at Sherman Lodge.  The last reference I have is a 6th Great Grandmother dying there in 1797.
I imagine there are tithe maps, but don't know whether they cover the 18th C.
Anyway, thanks for inquiring Derek.

Hello,

I discovered today that my two Gt Aunts who died in the diphtheria epidemic of Oct 1894, were buried at Stapleton, despite living in Barwell.

Is there anyone who may live in the area, who could photograph the grave(s) for me please?

Lillie Powers 1889-1894 and Elsie Sara Powers 1890-1894.

My Aunt recalled them being up against a wall, if that's any help.
Thank you very much indeed.

Thank you Capetown... Yes I found the burial for Priscilla, but would love a photo of the grave if there is one. :)

Yes, I appreciate that there may not be a stone or it's unidentifiable through erosion.
As I had an area number, I hoped it may be there.  :)

Hello,

My Great Grandfather, William Simpson was buried 19 August 1877 at Brierley Hill Baptist Church in South Street.

His grave number is: Grave 3 D. South Western. I don't know the exact death date.

Would it be possible for someone locally to have a walk to the churchyard and see if the grave still exists. If it does, would it be possible to photograph it for me? His wife was called Priscilla and I assume is on the same grave. She died 8 November 1875.
Thank you very much indeed

Bless you David… Thank you so much for looking into this for me. I greatly appreciate it.

A shame that the birthdate is not included… Nevertheless it's good to have this.
Thanks again

I googled Sarah Hawkins and found the website. I have tried to send a message, but when I pressed submit, it just went to a blank page... So I am doubtful whether it actually works!

Thank you both – yes I have the free BMD quarter and I agree that it appears that she was born under one middle name and married and died under another.

To find her baptism date would be great because lots of the Hambridge baptisms, which have been scanned, also include their birthdate.

If anyone does have access to the baptisms, I would greatly appreciate it. :)
Thank you very much
