What I have attached here is from the Upminster records regarding the birth of a Charles Mariner. The birth date matches William Mariner's but the year is two years earlier to what has been generally believed throughout our families (10 September 1789). I also have the record of Mary Ann Mariner's baptism that lists her as being born 8 September 1971, which means my records now need updating :( but yes just thought it was of interest for anyone who is actively pursuing information regarding this branch of our family.

Oh my goodness, thank you very much. It's a little difficult for me to get my head around this system of districts with registrations, I've been looking at the numbers with a blank face until having just read your post and now I think it should be a little easier. Fingers crossed a Hobbit can get the hang of it :)

Thank you so much! I am based in New Zealand so physically accessing them is a little difficult for me but if they are online, that definitely makes it much easier to pay for than having to pay for an airfare :) I hope Essex parish records are easy to locate, fingers crossed! Again, thank you so much!

Also, if you happen to have the web address for the Essex records, that would be fantastic but if not, this has still been very helpful in locating bits and pieces of my ancestor's family. THANK YOU!

Hi there!

I am a 9th generation descendant of Magnus Mariner (down from William's side who was the father of George who is my ancestor) and was wondering if there were any pictures available of the marriage record that notes the matrimony of both Magnus and Theodosia? I would really appreciate any help offered, thank you very much.

Hi there,

Looking to find more information on William Mariner, son of Magnus Mariner and Theodosia Jones. Books have pinned him to being born 10 September 1791 but now that I have read this thread and have seen a possible baptism for Mary Ann in the same year as William was born, I'm wondering if his birth date is correct. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
