Hi again Maddie
I am searching and printing from Ancestry as fast as I can!! ;) :) Thanks so much for telling me that it is free for today.
About to go and look for the burials!
Only Jane Emily Eleanor and Albert accompanied their parents on the Henry Tanner to Durban Natal in 1849 so I think you are right nthat may of the children must have died!. Would be interesting If Johns wife was an Elizabeth Webb as that was my maiden name!! :)
Thanks again, off to do some more hunting!
Best wishes
Nikki
PS. If you would like to see why I am on the hunt for Wakefields I have a blog I am working on on Wordpress caled Finding Polly Shortt - It's an uphill climb

Hi there
I have a hand written family tree ( done by my great aunt) which has a Benjamin Baylis b1777 as being one of 13 children born to Elizabeth nee SMITH and Joseph BAYLIS. His siblings were William b1774 d.1796, Ann b. 1779, Thomas b. 1780, Samuel b. 1783, Elizabeth b. 1786, John b. 1788, Mary b. 1789, John b. 1791, Maria b.1793 d. 1870, Timothy b. 1795, Joseph ( my line) b. 1797 d. 1854 married 1821 Mary Ann BRANSBY, and William b. 1800.
Elizabeth the mother was the daughter of a Timothy and Dorothy Smith.
If you think this is the right family let me know and I will dig out my file and see if I have any other info.
Best wishes
Nikki

I am looking for the family of my husbands GG grandmother Jane Sarah Wakefield. Father, John, and the family left England in 1849 to settle in South Africa. I think that her mother was Elizabeth, and her sisters eleanor and emily Thanks for any help.
