Warwickshire / Re: Hatton County Lunatic Asylum, Warwick

The record for theophilus I am sad to say bears the same status as all the others  which is the awful 'Lunatic'.
I believe that because he was home with his parents until his mother died he may have been 'Downs syndrome' and was unable to care for himself.
Many Downs children were placed in these institutions, i worked in one in the 80s and many had been there for  30 years.

Hatton is now a housing estate.

A few years ago I contacted Cheadle parish council and they found the grave numbers of my grandparents and sent me plans of how to find them.

I may have mislead you in saying the School cottage and  the rectory were in Meriden, although that is the area on 1939 census but on Alberts Will School cottage is in Over Whitacre in the district of Meriden

I suspect the Ruth possibly said she was born in  Woodville to the enumerator, which is 4 miles from Measham and the place where her birth had to be registered.Woodville is 6 miles from Horningglow.
