A message for Frontline.  Wondering what info you have on the awarding of RW's MM?  My grandfather Clive Gillespie also won a MM for the same action, and their names were together on the commendation (a copy of which I have).  Grandfather kept a war diary, but by 1918 he was writing very little, and the action for which they received their MMs gets no special mention, nor does he mention anyone's name.

Hi Kewgee, my grandfather also kept diaries but the entries dropped off the longer the war went on. I will post a pic of what I have regarding the action resulting in the MM , not sure if this is what you already have.

Hi early bird, my grandfather had two cousins in the war. George Stringer was killed at Gallipoli and his brother Charles was repatriated home after being wounded in France. I would be more than happy to post a photo of grandpa, give me a few days to find something suitable.  Regards Frontline.

Our family has no connection with South  Australia. The 29th battalion of which my grandfather was an original member was a Victorian battalion but was so decimated that it was disbanded in mid 1918 and merged with the 32nd battalion a South Australian battalion and this is where our relatives came together.
