Completed Census Requests / Re:Woolnough and Whiting lookup - Suffolk
« on: Tuesday 08 June 04 19:40 BST (UK)  »
Hi Tara

Thanks for taking time to reply and thanks for spotting my deliberate mistake!

I have several possible birth and marriage dates for both Thomas Woolnough and Mary Whiting. 1772, 1775 and 1776 for their births and 1797, 1801, 1800 and 1803 for the marriage.  Very confusing.  All were in Alderton Suffolk.

Their daughter is:

 LUCY WOOLNOUGH     Female
Event(s):   Birth:  10 APR 1804   Alderton, Suffolk, England
Parents:    Father:  THOMAS WOOLNOUGH    Mother:  MARY WHITING

All of this is from LDS.

Thanks again

David

Completed Census Requests / Woolnough and Whiting lookup - Suffolk

Hi all

Can anyone tell me anything about Mary Whiting and or Thomas Woolnough. I think they are my gggg grandparents. I have looked on LDS and got lots of information - they were both born in Alderton Suffolk between 1769 and 1880 - they also got married there I think. I am not sure if this request is too far back for your resources but I would love info
on them - their parents and their offspring if possible.

David

Hi

I am fairly sure that my gg grandmother was Lucy Woolnough, born in Alderton and married in Sternfield Suffolk - both are close to where you are talking about - are we cousins?

For what it is worth I joined and then cancelled with no problems at all.  Very efficient.

Many thanks for the time and information made available to me in this thread.   It definitely sounds like the man I have been looking for all this time - thanks. ;D

I am in the process of ordering from  www.col.statistics.gov.uk as suggested and they do not make it easier for us 'foreigners"!  They only allow on-line ordering from within the UK.

Apparently I have to: "Payments from abroad should be by an international money order, cheque or draft (payable in London ) made out to ONS and expressed in pounds sterling, quoting a UK clearing bank." Whatever that all means!  Grrrr! >:(  Thanks for listening!

Hi jaq
Thank you for taking time to look up my gradfather, I really appreciate that.   I have been looking for 3 months and you have found him!
I have a few of questions for you that will probably confirm to you that I am new to this.
1)  I can't find 1871online.com - what am I doing wrong?
2) How come he is in 1871online.com when he was born 20 years later?
3) How come there is no reference to any Joseph Sheppard in teh 1901 census.
4) Finally "joseph walter  sheppard born lambeth 1d 361 august  1891" does not mean a lot to me - how do I apply for his birth certificate?

If these are silly questions I apologise in advance.
Thanks
David Sheppard

Thanks for the prompt reply.  I really appreciate that.  I hve sent email to rellies in England requesting a bit more information about siblings and parents etc.  I will let you know but they are usually a bit tardy.

Hiya

I would be gratefule if anyone could tell me anything at all about my grandfather.  His name was Joseph Walter Samuel Sheppard and he was born in Lambeth on 4th August 1891.  I have conquered most of the other legs of my tree but Granddad Jack is a mystery!  Help!
