Hi Folks - I have more evidence. Look for the Presbyterian [Independent] chapels records for Oldbury - Halesowen, Shropshire.  Film no 65 of 82, Entry No. 546. William Haywood [HEYWOOD]born to John & Susannah Haywood in 1795.

Hi  I've come across your query and I will share my research and thoughts on William Haywood.

William is a direct forebear of my husband and through some strange twist of fortune we have found ourselves living in Stourport on Severn [Lower Mitton]. Research in my local library suggests that William was actually born in West Bromwich, Staffordshire - the 'Londonderry' on the census records are misleading. I think this refers to a small district within that area, now part of Smethwick.

My evidence is a small pamphlet written by W Stanford around 1900 based on local interviews about William, as well as a small book about the Methodist Church Circuit in Stourport by Wedley. They are both clear that William was a West Bromwich man. They also refer to an older brother called John, but I can find no information about him. I can find no other evidence of this, with no birth records in that area

Sorry this information is a bit vague.
Good luck Biffo 1963
