Do you mean Silver War Badge  ?
If one was awarded the Red Main Index Medal Card will be Noted SWB with a Reference below the Roll pages noted of the Medals awarded.
Under Ancestry
Military
View All in Card Catalog
In Top left enter
Silver War Badge Records
Then enter Regt Number

7 entries for 19th Thomas
My Rootschat Friend AllanUK and I are puzzled by those entries though we have seen that before but the explanation is not known and it wasn't just him that has those multiple entries. Usually entered when a Soldier changes Regt or Btn or possibly returns to Unit after Injuries?

There has to be a reason that somebody sat in a dusty office after WW1 on a trusty old Remington manual typewriter tippy tapping out row after row of the same thing.   I have looked at pages and pages of this particular document and it makes no sense unless it has some kind of meaning else why bother?  Why the need for the repetition?,

" 19th "
" 19th "
 "19th "

BarbW. - to find the Roll Cards that the Inscribers Noted :-
Ancestry
Military
Over on the Right Column select View All Card Catalog
Select Page 4 of 6
Select WW1 Service Medals and Awards
Enter Regiment Number for 1914/15 Medal
Later Service may be under a later Regt Number
Download the Pages found

Thank you very much for the clear
instructions.  I was able to find it quite easily just today as I've been caught up in another ancestor's life!!

I didn't have any luck with the silver star medal.but that's OK.

Just a question please on the British War and Victory Medal page why are there so many ditto marks under each man's record.  ie 19th Welch R with " 19th " appearing 7 times?

The Common Room / Re: What is this uniform.

Can anyone help with identifying this uniform?
Thanks

There is a Facebook group for the King's Liverpool Regiment as this may be the correct uniform as suggested by AllanUK.  The owners have extensive knowledge and personal memorabilia of the KLR.

He appears to have Enlisted in June 1915 into the Royal Welsh Fusiliers as Pte 32107 aged 17 having lied about his Real Age Birthdate had his Portrait Photograph taken - and later Transferred to the Welsh Regt before he went Overseas in December 1915 with the Welsh Regt
So his Medals Pip Squeak and Wilfred are all under 19th Welsh Regt
He was Discharged in January 1919

I have subscriptions to both Ancestry and FindMyPast but can't find this so I'm probably looking in the wrong place.  I wanted to add it to his records.

Do you have a link please or is it from a private collection?

Do you know his whereabouts 1921 to 1939  ?
You stated you had Records about him after his 1921 Marriage to Ethel
......

I came to this forum merely looking for help in identifying a uniform.  This is definitely my grandfather.

I am glad you found some more detail and that the information has been helpful.

Possibly I am not alone in finding your response above rather ungracious.

Researchers here 'go round the traps' as they say trying to get information to flesh out an enquiry. Our aim is to see if the information can be searched for in records they have access to, or in records that they may be experienced in searching.

So all information is useful information and no question from you, or a researcher to you is an odd  question.

So please don't be harsh on people who are researching and do find information that they think you might be interested in.  :)

I apologise for my terse reply.  I was annoyed at the speculation over the veracity of the photo and it not being my grandfather is my only excuse, sorry.

Years ago I was a moderator on a
genealogy forum so I do know how much research and time can be spent on helping someone.

I will be clearer on future posts.

Thank you everyone for all your help but he has now been found on the 1918 AVL by a member of the Great War Forum. By that time he was in the 19th btn. Welsh Regiment.

Thank you both.  Even more for me to think about now.  What would be the reason for being in a regiment so far away from Wales?  I know from the 1911 census nobody in his home spoke English, only Welsh, so he must have learnt it along the way.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: None of my DNA matches have ever contacted me
« on: Sunday 28 September 25 11:24 BST (UK)  »
I tested on Ancestry only in March 2024.  Nobody has ever contacted me either except for one very distant match to a young man who was trying to find the birth parents of his mother who was adopted.

I have contacted quite a few people and it's been a bit hit and miss with the replies just like when you contact someone with an Ancestry family tree connection.
