Carmarthenshire / Re: Richards Farm connections Llanllawddog and Llanpumpsaint
« on: Tuesday 05 May 15 12:56 BST (UK)  »
Hello Eurig,

Thank you so much for your reply. It's very interesting that your family farmed at Llwynsarnau . My family were there until about 1895 - the date my Aunt Margaret was born to my Grandparents,John Richards and Elizabeth Thomas. Margaret's elder brother, my uncle David was also born at the farm in 1891 but by the time my father was born in 1897 the family had moved to farm in Worcestershire. I do not know the reason for this.

My gt grandparents William Richards and his wife Margaret Davies were farming at Llwynsarnau until 1881 but my Gt Grandfather was killed in 1887 and by the 1891 census Margaret had moved to live with her son David at Cerrigbychan, Llanpumsaint.

Were the family that moved in around 1895 Davies'? I am always looking for connections and wonder if they might have been relations.

Would you be any relation to Denzel Davies? He was living at the farm around 2000.

Carmarthenshire / Re: Marriage of Thomas Richards to Rachel Davies Llanllawddog

Hi Carol
Yes I am aware that the marriage could have taken place anywhere in Carmarthenshire but the parishes of Llanllawddog, Llanpumsaint  and Abergwilli seemed to be the most likely.
Thank you for your reply,
Maureen

Carmarthenshire / Marriage of Thomas Richards to Rachel Davies Llanllawddog

I am trying to find the marriage of Thomas Richards to Rachel Davies June quarter 1840. The marriage could have taken place at either of the following parishes Abergwilly, Llanllawddog or Llanpumsaint. I know this is a lot to ask but if anyone has access to the Parish Registers for these districts I shall be very grateful if you can check these out for me.

Yes but it is somewhat frustrating all the same!
I'm sure there's an answer to my Richards family somewhere out there.
Again many thanks

Thank you so much Rosie. The occupation was as I had hoped but it was somewhat disappointing that no abode was mentioned. Back to the drawing board for me!
Many thanks

Will someone be kind enough to  look up the Parish Records for Thomas Richard/s Christened 21 08 1814 Llanllawddog Carmarthenshire, son of John and Jane Richards. I am wondering if there are any further clues - father's occupation or abode?
Many thanks MEN

Hi, I am so pleased that you have contacted me as I have made no progress with my Richards line for several years. What information do you have on Thomas? Did he have any siblings and what was his birth date? I can give you the information I have and hopefully we can make a connection.
Best wishes
Maureen

Shropshire / Re: Edwards Clun/ Clunbury

Hi both of you and many thanks for your replies - yes I realise that there are lots of Edwards prior to 1812 however it is difficult to establish whether or not they are related. I have Joseph Edwards as b about 1709 but have not been able to access the original parish registers to find his birth and the name of his father. I understand that I would have to go to Shropshire archives to view these as there is no record on line.
I did have the dates for Joseph and Mary's children but thank you anyhow.I am related through Jeremiah who later moved to Bleddfa, Powys
Again many thanks for your response.
