Kerr Watson b1845 is my 4th cousin 5 times removed (thank goodness for software that works it out).

I have three children for Kerr Watson & Mary Dennison, Mary 1873, Thomas 1877 & Elizabeth 1882; Elizabeth married Alexander Wallace (I have no info about him) and that's where my information stops.

Hi Pam

James McKinlay & Isabella Pryde had 11 children, are you descended from any of them?

George McKinlay was born in Newbattle in 1843, Mary Ann Beveridge in Cockpen or Lasswade in 1851.  Their son James was born 1868 in Newtongrange, he's my great-grandfather.

Hi Kim

Thankyou, but those names & places don't ring any bells.

The John Morning age 25 in 1841 in Abbey you mention, he (to my knowledge) isn't one of "mine"; he may be a distant relative, but I'll probably never know.  Most of my Mornings lived in Johnstone, but a few of them lived at some time in Paisley.

Thanks again, much appreciated.

Thankyou so much Ambly :)

I'm in touch with a 2nd cousin in NZ, grand-daughter of Mary's sister, she'll be happy with this information too.  These ladies are my grandfather's sisters.  Grandad and his brothers all stayed in Scotland, the girls all emigrated.

Canada / McKinlay sisters, Isabella & Mary

Daughters of James McKinlay & Christina Aird.  Isabella Robertson McKinlay born in Hamilton Lanarkshire 1894, Mary Beveridge McKinlay born in Dalserf Lanarkshire 1899.

They both emigrated to Canada (I believe with assistance from the Salvation Army) in the 1920s.

I know Mary was living in Vancouver BC in 1929, probably not married as she was a witness at another sister's marriage (not Isabella) and gave her surname as McKinlay.

At least one of these ladies married, because I know she wrote to her sister in New Zealand, but I have no idea who either of them may have married.

This is a long shot....... but do I have any Canadian cousins out there?

John Morning was born c1821 in Johnstone, son of John Morning & Janet McLachlan (both from Co Antrim);  Elizabeth Nicol was born c1820 in Co Antrim, dtr of John Nicol & Mary Campbell.

John & Elizabeth Morning had 10 children, Mary c1843 (my great-great grandmother), John c1845, William c1849, Lavinia 1852, James c1854, Matthew 1856, David 1858, Elizabeth 1860, Janet 1862 & Agnes 1864, all born in Johnstone.

I know that Matthew, David & Elizabeth emigrated to the USA.

The surname MORNING has been transcribed as Morrow, Marning, Murray and Murey.

Any cousins out there?

James McKinlay & Isabella Pryde are my 3xgreat-grandparents.  I'm descended from their son George b1843 who married Mary Ann Beveridge (daughter of William Beveridge & Jane Paterson).

I realise the original post is 5 years old, but I hope to hear from another researcher.
