Montgomeryshire / Re: Powys Offices hours/Llansainffraid ym Mechain research

Hello, Tan Yr Iwen is still a farm and easily found if coming from Llanfyllin (if you know the area that is) Penybont Llanerch Emrys does not have a burial site and would probably use Llangedwyn Church. Montgomery Genealogy Society would be a good point of reference as both P.L.E. and Llangedwyn have always been 100% Montgomeryshire whereas Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant was half Montgomeryshire 1/2 Clwyd. Hope you sort all your queries out while you are over here and get to enjoy the beautiful scenery. ;D

The Common Room / Re: Jones - getting no where fast!

Hi Lisa
Llandysil is a small village approx 3-4 miles from Newtown.
Westbury/Minsterley/Pontsbury are all within a close proximity to each other and I would estimate maybe 15-20 miles from Llandysil.
You're very much in "my area" now as I was reared near Welshpool.
Hope this bit of local knowledge helps
Ann :-D

Hi
Records to tenants of the Llangedwyn estate,if available I would imagine would be kept by the Williams Wynn estate office at Cefn,St Asaph.

I live at Priddbwll now,and during house renovation 10 years ago we found an empty envelope addressed to Mr Hughes when we opened up a sealed fireplace,so we put it back before rebuilding the wall......I know that doesn't help you in your search but thought may be of interest.

Kind regards
Ann
