Hi Rose, I did receive your email and have sent you an invitation through Ancestry to view the Tree.  I'll resend it again today, but it might be worth checking your Spam Folder in case it's sitting there.  Regards.  Chris

Hi Marie,
Your Dad would only have been 8 when his Dad died so perhaps it's not so surprising that he had no memories. GW snr died of TB so could have been ill for some time before his death. It seems very sad.

I wondered if your Dad was sent to the Forest Gate School which was part of the Pop
lar Union? I found records that show that both Frederick & Edward Carr were sent there in 1895.  Just a thought.

If you'd like to see what I have on the family please email me me on (*) and I'll give you access to my tree etc.

Regards

Chris

Hi Marie,  I'm sure that GW Senior didn't leave the family as I have a copy of his death certificate & the informant was your Grandmother's son Frederick Carr. They were all living at 4 Myra St. GW Snr died of Pulmonary Tuberculosis.  My Grandmother, Susan Ellen Orriss was GW Snr's daughter so we are 1st cousins! I have lots of information on the Orriss family and quite a big tree on Ancestry if you're interested. Kind regards. Christine

Thanks Dawn, that's really helpful. I know that it's an old post, but I've only just got around to signing up for RootsChat - obviously should have done it sooner!

George William Orriss, born 1857 in West Ham is my Great Grandfather.  I would love to contact the originator of this post as I think that we are distantly related
