Good advice.  I was there the other week and my sister can't walk far, so we got a taxi from South Bank to the Library hehe..

So yeah make sure you get the right stop to stop the walking..

Looking forward to this too

It's a good thought.

I just wish I had access to the West Briton Advertiser or something in that time frame to see if there was any mention of the missing Almon lol.

Aww well... this is definately intriguing.

I appreciate all the help.

I was looking for an elusive Almon SNELL in 1871, and some transcribers must really have a sense of humor.

These are some I found

A foreigner
A Man Stept Hame Unk
A gent
Not Known A Male Person Age About
A man
A woman (plenty of these, a man and a woman lol)

But the BEST ONE is this
A Man With A Big Nose

So if you are looking for a man born in about 1831 in Stockport, Lancashire, England.. now in Dent Yorkshire, it could be yours! lol

 :D :D ;D ;D

It's ok.  It is the thrill of the hunt  ;D

It is just annoying when they hide though.  I wonder if he went to Wales, Australia or the US.  Or he may have been transcribed as just A or anyone...

Aww well maybe this is just someone that can't be found.  Maybe he didn't want to be.. he could have been hiding deliberately?

Anyway thanks heaps for looking for me.

GTMA.. I was just wondering if he took off to America.  They would have to get that name from somewhere.. Almond would be dead but what if that was his son from another marriage over there.... very interesting...

I am looking at Ancestry now then to see if he turns up in an 1870 census or something...

This is very interesting.  I'd LOVE to have ancestors that went over to the US hehe

Thanks again Kris, this is very interesting.

She remarried John COCKING in 1873 in St Austell.  They then came over to Australia with her kids so...

Hmm I wonder if he ran off and emigrated somewhere?

These pests are sent to try us lol

Kris, thanks for looking  ;D  Yes Almon is a pest, but you are a STAR.  I really appreciate all your hard work, I really do.  You have been great.

If someone like you who works so hard on it can't find him, and neither can I.. maybe he just can't be found.

It is so strange, isn't it?  I will double check when she marries but it is under 7 years I think.

Maybe he did just run off?  You would think having a name like Almon would be easy to find, but it is the opposite isn't it, as it could be transcribed as anything.

Thanks so much for all your hard work, I really am grateful.  And I will make sure to tell my relative Jan that you have tried really hard too.

I wonder if this is ever going to get solved...

Thanks Kris  ;D
