Good evening

So in doing some research today I came across a little puzzle that got me digging further.

My 2x great aunt Sarah married a William Hunt as did her sister Alice. I thought I had made a mistake in doing the tree.

However looking at sources I discovered that Alice Taylor, born 1842 to Tuckney Taylor and Rebecca Watson, married William Hunt in Whaplode in 1860.

A son is born in 1Q 1861, William Benjamin Hunt MMN Taylor. In the same quarter there is a death for 19 year old Alice Hunt.

In the 4th quarter there is a marriage for a William Hunt and a Sarah Taylor in Whaplode. Subsequent Census returns match this Sarah to Sarah Taylor, born 1840 to Tuckney and Rebecca.

I know that it was illegal to marry your deceased wife's sister since my great-grandfather also married his sister in law following his 1st wife's death.

However what I'm trying to find out is whether William was prosecuted for this. I have come across a very large number of newspaper articles on FindMyPast that share a series of letters between William, the clerk of the Registrar General and John Fairfax Franklin, the vicar of Whaplode . These letters discuss the legalities of the so-called marriage with the registrar general stating that he will instruct his attorney to prosecute William for corrupt perjury unless he "gives up at once the illegal course upon which you have entered".

William does not leave Sarah as they go onto have 3 children and share a life of at least 30 years.

I was wondering if anyone had access to local newspapers or court information as to whether William did face prosecution as it looks like he refused to give up Sarah.

Thank you in advance.

The marriage in 1866 to Eliza gives his age as 23 and father as Charles Taylor, so not the same person.

A lot of trees have his death as 18th October 1904 Kings, New York, USA, but it might be the above Henry.

Yes that rules that one out as well. There just seemed too many things that didn't match up when I started digging deeper. I don't like to copy from others trees unless I've checked all the details and have documents to back up those facts.

So I wonder what happens to him after 1851 then?

The Henry Taylor  who married Sarah Ann Barker in 1855 was aged 32 with no father listed.

So unless he lied about his age its unlikely this is him, as my Henry would have only been 21 in 1855. I believe 21 was the legal age in those days so he wouldnt have needed consent so no reason to lie

The one I'm struggling with is Henry Taylor. He is the 3rd son of Tuckney and Rebecca Taylor (nee Watson) and is born I believe in Whaplode around 1834. He is baptised in Whaplode in July 1834. He is resident with his parents and siblings in Whaplode in both 1841 and 1851.

Henry is not with his parents in 1851, he appears to be in the household of Richard Barron.  Henry's occupation a Groom

Sorry yes, my mistake on that one

Lincolnshire / Henry Taylor born 1834 Whaplode

Good afternoon

I'm currently researching the siblings of my great grandfather Joseph Taylor. I recently discovered that he had 4 extra siblings that I was unaware of.

However this is where I'm struggling. I've found a tree which has an number of interesting entries that I cannot seem to confirm.

This tree has Henry marrying Anne Taylor in Holbeach in 1855. No documental evidence. A search on FindMyPast brings up a record of a Henry Taylor marrying either Sarah Ann Barker or Mary Kitchen. I cannot find a parish register to see who the father is to confirm whether this is the right Henry. There is no marriage to an Anne Taylor.

There is then a birth of a daughter Sarah on this tree but in New York, USA in 1858. There's an entry to a residence in  New York in 1865 but no documentation to support this.

There then follows a marriage in Manchester in Oct 1866 to an Eliza Annie Taylor and a birth of a son Thomas also in Manchester.

An arrival in Brooklyn (no documentation) in 1869.

There's also further Census returns (US) attached.

However I'm not even sure that all of these Henry's are the same person as there seems to much guessing with no evidence to back things up.

I cannot seem to find any documented evidence of Henry in the UK after 1851. I do  not have worldwide Ancestry access so cannot access those records on the tree to verify them.

Any help would be much appreciated. I'm slowly trawling through FamilySearch to see if I can find anything on there but its that common name of Taylor again proving tricky.

So I've checked the map and despite living nearby for 30 odd years I always thought Little London was an area of Long Sutton but tonight I have discovered that its actually a road in Long Sutton.

So Charles lived on Little London and Ivy lived on Woad Lane, which is a road that is off Little London. So they lived just around the corner from each other.

Was she anywhere near Bright Lane as the address on the passenger record is 47 Bright Lane

Looking at the record isn't that the address for the person below and his address is Mountain Ash, Little London, Long Sutton?

I do know that there is a Cinder Ash Walk in the area
