Harriet Booth (unmarried - b. ca 1811), her daughter Mary Booth, (also unmarried - b. ca 1831) and grandson Benjamin Booth (b. ca 1857) all of Bramley, appear in several census records. By 1871 two other grandchildren are listed - Sarah Ann & Emily. Benjamin married Sarah Hannah Ross in 1879. Any info on Harriet's parents and whether Mary is Benjamin's mother would be a great help.

The reference to Miles you cited - where did you find that? I can only find Part III online and he is not in that.

Thank you so much for the book reference!
I had previously checked Scotland's People and there are very few possibilities there as you say.
All subsequent generations of Miles' descendants were Protestant so we would assume that Miles was as well. My friend's father spent much of his leave time during WWII in Scotland trying to find his roots but unfortunately never did.

Scotland / Where to begin??

I am hoping something might be possible. A friend is a Macmillan, descended from Miles Macmillan, b. abt. 1755 in Scotland and died in 1807 in New Brunswick, Canada. It is believed he left Renfrewshire with the Black Watch Regiment but his county of birth is unknown. He accepted land in Canada in lieu of a military pension so evidently there is no trail to follow that way. He married Kathlin McGuire of Ireland. Can you point us in a particular direction? He would so much love to know where in Scotland his Macmillan line originated.

At first I had wondered if Duncan ever lived on Iona but since Dugald was born there and Flora died there he must have. It would be so nice to learn where Duncan was born but it's not looking too hopeful.

Thank you for the info on Neil.
I don't see Duncan in the 1851 census unless it's the one aged 72 in Lismore Appin and Duror

Or maybe what I saw *was* the burial record rather than the death record?

Are you able to send me a link to the burial record?
