Also named in the workhouse of 1901 is a:
William Keeling-51 years-widow.

Is this the father of Harold etc?

Interesting isn't it. :)

Hello Amanda,
do you have any rough dates for your g.g grandfather as I've found a Harold Keeling aged 7 on the 1901 census along with an elder sister Mary Ann and younger brother James in the workhouse in Stoke. What age was your g.g grandfather when he died, this may help pinpoint if this Harold is the same person. There are no other Harold Keelings in the Stoke on Trent area in 1901.

Forget the marriage cert:
She married a Richard Phillips as far as I can tell. Does this surname ring any bells.

Emma Elizabeth Shaw got married June quarter 1897, doesn't give the partners name though. You would have to buy a marriage certificate for this but at least it will give you the leads you need.

Samuel had a daughter, Emma Shaw born 1876approx. No male line though so you will need to look for a later marriage of Emma.
I'll try and have a quick look.

hiya,
the only way of finding why he died so young is to obtain a copy of his death certificate. Checking on any decendents of his will mean checking later census records(1881/1891 etc) and tracing his line forward.
It's a tall order, maybe posting again for Shaw decendents on a family history website may help.
His death cert will give the last place he was living, from that look at the 1881 census etc.

Hello,
you say you want anything on him? Do you have him on the 1871 census with his parents Thomas and Isabella?

Hiya,
when I inquired about a paupers burial for my relative I was given the position of the burial plot but they would not name the other occupants of the grave except for my relative whereas in a family grave they would give me all the occupants therein.
