Hi riogirl,

Is it possible to rescan the photos at a higher resolution - this would give the restorers a much better chance to restore.
There is a tutorial at the top of page if you need help about scanning.

Good luck,
Di

Thank you!  I unfortunately don't have the originals, this is all I have to work with!

I believe the gentleman (Alexander Renny 1854-1919 born and died in Arbroath) on the photo taken in Buenos Aires, Argentina is the same one that is sitting down on the group photo with his sons. Any feedback on if it is the same person?  Any guesses as to when the Buenos Aires photo was taken?

Thanks!!!!

This is my grandfather Alexander Renny with possibly siblings.  He was born in Arbroath in 1893 and passed away in Andover, MA, USA in 1933

Thank you!!!!

Is Montrose Royal Lunatic Asylum the same as Sunnyside Asylum? I had a relative die there in 1871, contacted them as there is a museum of psychiatry there and received a photocopy of the case notes. A friend who is a psychiatrist read the notes and suggested that he probably died of meningitis and was not mad at all! Hope this helps.

Harrow - How did you contact them? I saw they closed :( I would like to do the same - thank you!

Hi,

I discovered some time ago that the records from Sunnyside are held in archives in Dundee. I managed to find several pages of case notes for my grandfather, who was a patient in the 1890's. Knowing the date/year of admission is useful for finding individual records. This link may help, or put you in the right direction.

I have a death certificate of a relative that died there in 1875.  I tried searching here:

but came up empty - is this where you searched?

Any help is much appreciated!
