Dublin / Re: ONE SURNAME STUDY
« on: Tuesday 01 November 05 10:51 GMT (UK)  »
Good Morning,
I am William Brigley from North Bay, On, Canada. Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada I found my family originated from Ireland, then some moved to England before migrating to Canada, and some later spread across Canada and to parts of the US. I too became curious about the Brigley names heritage, so I started a family website (http://s3.invisionfree.com/Our_Family_Tree)

Since that time I came in contact with Zoe Brigley from England. Though a very busy & successful individual, she has found the time to let me know she does have archives that connect to the one I have posted on my site, and predates it back to Dublin, Ireland.
I am sure once she finds the time to either mail me the archive (as I sent a copy of mine to her), or posts it on the site, we may find the information your looking for regarding Cecil Gore Brigley & others. As well I believe the name Brigley originated from Bigley because that is the closest family crest in Ireland related to our name. (If Zoe's information about our origin is correct. Your welcome to browse my site, and keep an eye out for your info. If she mail's it to me, I will most curtainly upload it to the site for a family members to view.

aaahhhh, about time I figured out where to register for this site. Good day Imison. I myself am a Brigley from North Bay, Ontario, Canada. I have created my own website for our family history and you quite welcome to join it. I have posted an archive back to when the Brigley's first came to Canada and their monement down into the states. I'm awaiting an archive that pre-dates mine back to when the Brigley's originated in Ireland.
I hope this is a help in your search.

Since it is a secure site, your welcome to use your real name.

I see your complication with the variants between "Brigley" & "Bigley" It would be easy to have this happen since most people in the early 1800's did not know how to write, and when they moved they pronounced their name to the local preist, who would then record it for them.
