The Common Room / Re: A Question About Bigamy
« on: Friday 28 March 25 22:05 GMT (UK)  »
Is it possible that when wife 1 found your man in 1911 and began divorce proceedings, that the bigamous marriage came to light at that time. In which case the 2nd marriage would have been annulled at that time and he would have then served his sentence.

Why they would then leave it so long to marry legally I can't imagine.

If not the above, during these times bigamous marriage normally came out only when a previous wife found out, so it is unlikely that anyone would know.

Technical Help / Re: British Newspaper Archive downloads

Findmypast could help by introducing a rotate through 90 degrees facility, increasing the length of column available (horizontally) on the screen at legible size.

Unnecessary on Findmypast as you get the same resolution regardless how much you have to zoom out to grab your article when you use the findmypast built in clip facility. You can zoom right out to see a whole page, clip just column 1 from top to bottom and the jpg will be perfectly fine.

Technical Help / Re: notepad or wordpad ?
« on: Thursday 02 January 25 14:04 GMT (UK)  »
Wordpad has been removed from all editions of Windows, but you should still have notepad - try using the search to see if it can find it.
It's only been removed from W11 24H2 so if you have anything before that, including W11 23H2 it should still be there (ie use search to find it).
My desktop is now W11 24H2 and it has gone. Still on unupdated laptop.

Worcestershire / Re: Access to original Halesowen parish registers
« on: Thursday 18 July 24 18:47 BST (UK)  »
Ancestry has the Bishop's Transcripts of Worcestershire parish registers, as mentioned above.
I was in Worcester this morning so checked the microfilm of the actual Halesowen Parish Register Volume 10. Prudence's baptism states that she was the "Daughter of Gabriel & Sarah Little". Not Littley as on the Bishop's Transcript)
The Bishop's Transcript actually shows Little as well but has been mistranscribed by Ancestry. The "Y" shown on the image is the old fashioned th with an e above it ie Little the 7th (looks like Little Ye 7th)

While GEDCOM is designed to transfer family trees between different software programs, not one of those programs is 100% GEDCOM compliant.

Although Family Historian 7 is designed and implemented as 100% GEDCOM compliant and stores it's data as such.

Thanks Jebber, I've found the auto renew button now.
As are mine, with auto-renew re-established.

Still not working for me  :(

When I go into "My Subscription" is says my sub is "Active" and expires 10 Jan 2022, as it should be.  If I then click "Manage My Subscription" from that page it say "No subscription".

I followed Jebber's instructions to find auto renew and it took me back to the "My subscriptions" page with no auto renew options.

When you went into My Account did you click on the first option Personal Details, or My Subscription? It’s the first one you want. Otherwise I can only suggest you contact Findmypast.
I think the answer is as I stated in my previous post. For those of us with the problem FindMyPast think we have no subscription, therefore there will be no auto-renew option presented.

This is exactly what I get. If it assumes we have no subscription, logically there will be no auto-renew available.

This was posted 40 minutes ago on their Facebook page so about 10 am uk time,  but as I said earlier I was having bother copying it over, so I've just typed it out word for word old school!

'As part of the continuing work to enhance our service, we made some internal updates that temporarily impacted access for some of our subscribers. This has since been resolved. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to thank our community for their patience.'

From Find My Past FB page .
Sorry, I missed that, however it certainly hasn't been fixed on my account. I can still not access any records.
