Thanks Darin - very much obliged!

This is the last information we need - as I confirmed this afternoon with UK National Archives Innocenso Maspero never naturalised to be a British citizen - however he was on the 1851 UK Census.

In order to complete ancestral visas for ourselves we need to prove to the Italian government the father Innocenso (to William Angelo the son), never naturalised- which means Italian citiizenship is passed from father to son at birth - Italian Government authorities will go back as many generations as is needed for ancestral purposes....

The only outstanding information we need it the birth certificate - which the Italian Consulate in CT have said will be very hard to find for a birth in 1790

let me know if you come across any more info - Ill do the same my side

Kind regards

Andrew

Thanks Darin. We are looking to determine whether Innocenso renounced Italian citizenship when he left Italy and also a birth certificate which I doubt we will get from Natinal Archives in UK - Ive tried contacting the church where he was born already - but no response yet. The National census might be able to ascertain whether he was a British or italian citizen - but not sure how to confirm on this.

Kind Regards

Andrew

Hi Lei

The wildcard you refer to was my great great grandfather, and there is a whole maspero branch in South Africa still - Charles Harold emigrated to South Africa after he married his wife Emily Hagger in Adelaide - they bought a chicken farm called Golden Grove Poulrty farm, and it must have had relative success as William Angelo and all the children emigrated out to SA and are buried here....

Also a hotel was bought when the farm was thought "too far out".

My grandfather was one of Charles Harolds sons - there was another son Alex. Both sons produced 5 children and these in turn more, of which I am one...

Andrew

Hi Lei

I am also a descendent of Innocenso Maspero, and ma currently looking for his birth certificate - do you by any chance have it?

Our branch is descended from the enigration to England when William Angelo Maspero emigrated eventually to South with his son Charles Harold Maspero.

I also have a letter from Sir Gaston Maspero, the egyptologist indicating the family was in several branches at Innocensos lifetime...

Regards
Andrew
