Thanks Kris,

I see I have some work to do in the days ahead, but it will be interesting.  What a pity this genealogy business is not as easy as it appears to be on "Who do you think you are?', but I will keep plodding along, with the help of my friends. whom I have met on Rootschat.

Thanks for confirmation of details given to me by long lost cousin. I will try and  do some more research myself, going backwards, but don't know how I will go.

Dear Lizdb,

Thanks for you reply.  A second cousin twce removed, whom I have only recently had contact with, has given me lots of details, but she hasn't got the marriage certificate, so I will send off for that.  Thanks for the ref. details.   Also can I please "yell" all the way from Australia, and ask you to look at the census records for me.

Have only recently learned more of this branch of my family.  My great grandfather was JOHN DICKMAN, who married ANN LOVELOCK-EYLES in Pewsey in 1840.  John and Ann had 8 children, and in  1855,  sadly, on way to Australia, Ann died and was buried at sea.  1856, John married Ann's sister Jane LOVELOCK, in Adelaide, South Australia,  They also had 8 children, the 4th being Anna Elizabeth, my grandmother.  Anything I can learn about either the DICKMAN or LOVELOCK  families would be great.

My great, great grandmother was Ann BOUNDY, who married John Quick in Exeter, at Allhallows on the Walls on 21st January, 1824. Witnesses were a Wm. Allen and William Boundy, possibly Ann's father.   I have a copy of the Exeter St. John Parish Registers: MF 11.
I would love to learn anything about the Boundys, if there is anyone who can help me.  I have looked up the
I.G.I. Records, but am unable to ascertain the correct family.

Thankyou Richard,

As I live in Australia, and there is no likelyhood of my ever being able to visit the UK, it is good to know that there are people like you on the net who can find things out for us Colonials.

Is there anyone out there who can tell me if this is still a farm or not.  In 1841 and 1851 census records my greatgrandfather, George Cook and family, lived on the property, and it was a working farm.  In later census records up tp 1901 it was still occupied by Cooks.  Any information at all will be gratefully received

Donegal / Re: McGirr

Thanks Christopher  for your messge.

I have found my Robert McGirr in Donegal through another message site, and have a copy of the gravestone of his father there in Newton Cunningham.

Catherine Ivory was only 4 years old when she came to Australia - don't know whether she was famine orphan or not- so I'm not sure that posting a message about the McGirrs on the Dublin site would do any good or not, Robert was about 20 years old when he came to Australia - I have these figures from their death certificates.

Thanks again,

Ingham from Aus.
