William scott the store keeper had a brorher robert and his sister ellen....her death cert gives not information on parents.
Ellen's children were fascinating and she and her husband where quite well off

Hi...ignore my post about the mariner william scott....he did live in willis street....but if you take away the "capt"  that elizabeth talked about everything else points towards william the shopkeeper being her father....this william had his sister and brother hgere in wellington.

The mariner william scott will mentions a reputed wife and son

Hi - the shop keeper is not the william Scott you are looking for, as i have also chased down this rabbit hole.

At one stage there were two William Scotts living in Willis Street , based on the jury lists, one was a Store keeper who died in 1868 i think and the other was a master mariner (ie capt).

The master mariner William Scott had previously been a tide-waiter (which is a customs officer) who lived in Thordon, he also bought land and a house in Taranaki Place.

Hi - Thank you for this information. I am descended from Eliza Holmes and Joseph Barre. I live in New Zealand as Joseph and Eliza's son Joseph John James emigrated here in the 1800's. I have bene trying to find out Mary's names for years...so thank you so much
