Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Somewhere in Africa, a long time ago!

Somewhere in Africa...  Two photos...

#1

I do know it's a WW1 era Leyland RAF truck, photo likely taken after WW1 though, maybe or maybe not...  And a man, maybe a "soldier" of some sort...  And on the far right there are some native Africans passing by...  I do have a clearer photo of them, must scan that one...

#2

It's a Crossley RAF Tender, no people in this photo, but does have the hut behind it, may or may not be the same village as the previous Leyland truck...

Yes...  I did find this series of photo here in western Canada...

Looks a little like Willys Knight Touring Car  http://oldcarandtruckpictures.com/OldClassicConvertibles

Sarah :)

I think you might be referring to the Packard above the Willys Knight, perhaps, except the head lights are different, but that isn't a big issue for cars of this age...  Admittedly it's hard to ID cars from this era, especially when all there is a side view...

And notice the complete absence of any women, unless there is someone I missed, one of the first things I noticed with this photo...  :P

Are my eyes deceiving me, or are there people standing along the top between the falls?  Maybe a sharper close up of that area may reveal the clothes they are wearing for a guess at the era.  I think I can see a lady in a long light coloured dress (or I may need a visit to the opticians  ;D )

Jool

I do know that at one time that area between the falls was open to the public, I think I've heard that it's closed now...  There might be people up there, but so distant hard to pick out much detail...  Here's my full-size scan over at Flickr, just follow the link...  https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7366/16400112415_fc06a8c271_o.jpg

Here is a 1926 (verified date) photo of the same island from above the falls, it was called Luna Island, someone told me that Luna Island was removed in the 1960's, another found photo, but from a different source then the first photo I posted...

It is probably the cave of winds walk

Irene (been there and done that lol)

So it's still in use today, I searched around and never found any other photos like it...  A little disappointed, although I'm pretty sure my photo is quite old...  I think...

Wow!  :o  As a collector of found photography, these are some of the best I've ever seen, and very good quality, yes I'm a wee bit envious, I know that's wrong...  :D

What a fantastic photograph!  This could be Jean Erskine mentioned here

That sounds close, never seen that link before, she may have never become very famous to be mentioned much...

I picked up this photo awhile back now - here in Calgary, there is nothing on the back or front, but it tells such a story, not even sure how old it might be, any thoughts?
