Born Nov 30, 1892, baptized Feb 1, 1893.

Aquilon was a military officer, and Gylling a merchant, the son of an estate owner. I see I called his father's title "landlord" last time. May have been my bad translation...

Roos af Hjelmsäter is a noble family, introduced as number 51 at the Swedish House of Lords, so Gustaf's ancestors on that side would probably be possible to trace a long way back. The oldest known ancestor of the Roos af Hjelmsäter family was a Norwegian lord, married to a daughter of Norwegian King (1299-1319) Håkon Hålägg, so ancient royal ancestors are for sure.

I have Roos af Hjelmsäter ancestry myself among what noble roots I have from the 1700's and back in time, and lots of Swedish nobility on lines leading back to Swedish King Karl Knutsson (Bonde) in the 1400's as latest, who inaugurated the Swedish flag in blue and yellow after the colours of his own coats of arm, and the regent Birger jarl who founded Stockholm in the 1250's (regent as guardian of his son, who had been elected king after his maternal grand father), and I wouldn't be surprised if Anna Sofia Roos af Hjelmsäter shared more or less the same lines. Could be pretty fun to check out...

Ah, I see. It doesn't seem there were any children, as far as I understand?

Alright, here we go, here's Gustaf's line back to the oldest known Pemer ancestor:

Wolf Pemer, known by name

Nicolaus Pemer "I", merchant in Augsburg, died in 1610. Married to Judith Maystetterin, died in 1611.

Daniel Pemer, 1569-1632, merchant in Augsburg and for a while in Hamburg. Married 1st to Sara Snoyensin, died in 1620. (A brother of his was Nicolaus "II" in our records.)

Nicolaus Pemer "III", 1608-1687, merchant, iron works proprietor et al. Left Augsburg in 1630, heading for Poland, noted in Sweden from 1634 on. Married 1st to Christina Erichsdochter, died in 1664, 2nd in 1666 to Euphrosina Petre, 1643-1720, of English/Scottish origin. We who are still called Pemer are descended from the son Robert, 1674-1706, in this latter marriage.

Sara Pemer, 1641-before 1704. Married to Jean Frumerie, 1634-1689, iron works owner, mayor et al, son of walloon immigrant Martin Frumerie, who was a preacher and school teacher at the Finspång works where Ernest Aquilon was born.

Johan Frumerie, 1663-1709, bailiff and penman. Married to Margareta Norman, 1665-1725.

Margareta Frumerie, 1696-1757. Married in 1717 to Gerhard Meijer, 1683-1756, captain.

Maria Margareta Meijer, 1718-1789. Married in 1745 to Carl Magnus Karth, 1716-?, sergeant.

Gerhard Karth, 1750-1793, sergeant. Married to Anna Sofia Roos af Hjelmsäter, 1754-1818. Present Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven is descended from Gerhard's sister Anna Greta Karth, 1746-1818, married to parish curate Olof Byström, 1722-1788.

Carl Gustaf Karth, 1788-1867, "sort of a district attorney". Married to Maria Eleonora Holm, 1797-1870.

Anna Sofia Karth, 1814-1883. Married in 1839 to Carl Eric Gylling, 1801-1860, landlord.

Gustaf Eric Gylling, 1852-1912.

I could pinpoint Ernest Aqiulons birth record in Risinge parish, where the cannon foundry works of Finspång is situated.

"Ernst, born nov 30, baptized Feb 1, parents J O E Aquilon, lieutenant, and Agnes Carolina Lyall, baptism witnesses: widow Fredrique Aquilon, Stockholm, widow M A Morris, USA, merchant Gustaf Gylling, Montreal, Canada, and wife Fanny Gylling, née Lyall, Mrs M E Bieber, née Lyall, principal Harry Lyall, USA."

I searched Aquilon in the Swedish census of 1900. The father is there, now a captain, Johan Otto Ernst Aquilon, born in 1857 in Stockholm, residing at Katrinedal in the town of Karlskoga, remarried, and two children from a previous marriage and a son in the present marriage living with him. His apparent mother, the widow Fredrika or Fredrique Aquilon, born in 1826 in Stockholm.

No children, right? Or any chance that the poster is a descendant? :D

Ah, how nice! Found this page when googling Gustaf Eric Gylling's name. Just followed his mother's family forward in time in Swedish church records, since I'm compiling the extended Pemer family tree, i e all descendants of our family on all cognatic lines. In the house hold examination book of Lund cathedral parish Gustaf Eric is noted "is said to be married in England", and noted as moving to Gothenburg in 1881. I have descendants noted from three siblings of his.

If I understand correctly, your posts would seem to be from 2012. I await some reactions first.

What I can provide at present is basically Gustaf Eric's line back to the Pemer family particularly, and some other ancestors. The line back to the Pemer family is via families Karth (his mother's maiden name), Meijer and Frumerie. The present prime minister of Sweden is descended from the same line of Pemer-Frumerie-Meijer-Karth, by the way.
