Northumberland / Information on inquests
« on: Wednesday 08 January 14 10:34 GMT (UK)  »
In my research into my maternal line I found that my GGGrandfather died when a colliery wagon ran over him  :( :(. I found a report in the Newcastle Courant Friday 2nd April 1852 as follows:
Newcastle Courant Friday April 2nd m1852

On Wednesday, the same Coroner held an inquest in Greenhead on Thomas Blenkin who had been killed by a colliery wagon going over him. The inquest was adjourned til 5th inst. In order to have the attendance of the district mine inspector.

I've been unable to find any additional information or a follow up report in the newspaper. Can anyone point in the right direction?

I found a report in the Newcastle Courant about an inquest on Thomas Blenkin in April 1852. He was hit by a colliery train and the inquest was postponed until a mining inspector could be there. I have no luck in finding the continuation of the inquest.
Can any one help? Thanks in anticipation.

« on: Friday 22 March 13 10:07 GMT (UK)  »
This is not a look up request but to ask if anyone can offer a possible answer. I use find my past and Genes Reunited for census look ups.I have  the wedding of Robert to Jane Ann Rippon in august 1884 and the census with their children for 1891, 1901 and 1911, i have tried all ways to find Robert in the 1881 and i keep getting a Robert who was a joiner while "my" Robert was a draper and had been in his parents census. Can anyone suggest where I can find him in 1881.

Aberdeenshire / Re: Cost of a Lair - Complete
« on: Friday 06 April 12 08:44 BST (UK)  »
Thank you both for the suggestion, the reason for the question was that William Wallace purchased 3 lairs in Peterhead and his occupation on the gravestone was a sailor. I didn't think sailors would be that well paid.
Thanks again
Derek
