My apologies, i listed the whole family in good faith to let people see the whole picture. However, i did mention the people i was stuck on.

(The main sticking point is trying to find Maria Elizabeth Briggs DoB, where born and when and where married. Also details of their first child Catherine Elizabeth Buchanan, when and where born. As well as Robert Snr.)

I will make sure that i only list the people who require research in future.

Thanks for your reply, he obviously lived in St Thomas, Virgin Islands for a while, so i am assuming Robert Snr was possibly a West Indies sugar/tobacco merchant.

Hoping that someone can help in this brick wall. Here is what i have so far;

Robert Buchanan - DoB NK DoD 1842 Glasgow.
He married  Maria Elizabeth Briggs DoB NK, DoD NK. They had 5 children

Catherine Elizabeth Buchanan DoB NK DoD 1848 in Glasgow, cannot find DoB and where she was born.

William Buchanan DoB Mar 1825 St Thomas County, Virgin Islands (US) DoD NK

Maria Elizabeth Buchanan DoB Feb 1828 St Thomas County, Virgin Islands (US), USA
DoD11 Jun 1909 Liverpool, Lancashire, England

Ann Elizabeth Buchanan DoB 31 Mar 1829 St. Thomas, Virgin Islands (US), USA
DoD 14 Aug 1864 Southport, Lancashire, England

Robert Buchanan DoB 26 Apr 1831 Barony, Lanark, Lanarkshire, Scotland

The main sticking point is trying to find Maria Elizabeth Briggs DoB, where born and when and where married. Also details of their first child Catherine Elizabeth Buchanan, when and where born.

Tried many search criteria but with no luck so far. Just asking if anyone could shed some light on the problems and maybe point me in the right direction or find some details.

Thank you for your reply. Duncan Buchanan was the son of James Buchanan of Auchlessie, James's father was Sir Arthur Buchanan of Auchlessie.
I have searched Family Search, FindMyPast, Ancestry and others but the only marriage that comes up for Duncan Buchanan is;
Name:   Duncan Buchanan
Gender:   Male
Marriage Date:   22 Jul 1721
Marriage Place:   Kilmadock, Perth, Scotland
Spouse:   Grissel McGruther

After days of searching either Duncan Buchanan and/or Grissel Robertson, there is no marriages for either one, apart from the one above for Grissel McGurther.
Its difficult going back all these years but just thought i may have missed something or someone knows if there is documentation around. Many thanks for your help.

Looks like some have not survived. Been trying different wildcards all morning on SP and still no further forwards. I try to narrow it down but the site goes blank, no further information.

However, the persons/couples children show up and confirms the parents which i am looking for. Not giving up just yet, i will keep trying.
