I'm not sure actually , my dad was adopted by Peter Salmon and Henrietta.  He was born on the 29/8/1916.  Henrietta, (my grandmother) died from cancer in 1931 at 35 St Mungo Street Glasgow.  Henrietta (my dads stepsister) was born in 1919.  she later married a George Riddell and as far as I know emigrated to Canada.  My dad never spoke about his family, so I am going on names my mum told me.  He did mention spending much of his childhood in Paisley, but his adopted family originated from Maryhill in Glasgow.  His birth mother was called Bridget Murphy and he was born in the Rottenrow maternity hospital and his mother had him christened.  I have had no joy trying to trace Bridget.
Samuel Johnston who was married to Mary Salmon was my Grandmothers youngest brother, he was killed in India and a few years later mary was killed in a road accident.  They had two children born around 1934 and 1935 I have been trying to find out what happened to them after they were orphaned.  Maybe Henrietta or William adopted the or they stayed with the grandparents.  My aunt seems to vaguely remember Henrietta emigrating to Canada but can't be sure.

Hi I am tracing my family tree and came across your post - My great uncle Samuel John Johnston (Maternal Grandmothers brother) Was married to Mary Salmon.  He was killed during WW2 1/5/44. I have attached their marriage lines to see if it is of any help.  I would like to know if they had any children, my aunt thinks they may have had two but doesn't know their names.  Mary died a few years later they left two children and i wonder if Henrietta adopted them and took them to Canada

Hi - Thanks for that.  I already have both their birth certificates, marriage and death certificates. I even know her parents names and that she had a sister and brother William and Henrietta.  I also know her parents names, but I am trying to find out if there is any newspaper article on the accident and if they had any children.  Samuel was my granny's wee brother but he was killed in India 1944.  It was sad that she died three years later in such tragic circumstances.  :-\

Lanarkshire / Family tree

I am hoping someone on here can help me - I am doing my family tree at the moment and stuck on one of my ancestors - Her name was Mary Johnston (Nee Salmon) She was born 1913 - Her husband Samuel died in the war 1944 - she was killed in a motorcycle accident 1947 age 33 on the way to the RAI in Paisley though I dont know why she was going there. Their address was 4 Myrtle Street though I cant find any trace of it. I am trying to find out where that was - and if anyone would know what newspaper if any the accident would have appeared in. also if they had any children. Her sister Henrietta Riddell (Nee Salmon) 10 Lumsden Street signed the death certificate.

Hi everyone - I am new to this site.  I was wondering if anyone could help in identifying the writer of this letter.  The letter is to my great grandmother on the death of her husband.  Any info would be appreciated. :)/Users/elizabethwright/Desktop/500104_932912e949u625l885492k_P_98x128.jpg
