Thanks everyone, much appreciated!

I thought Mela St., but couldn't find it on Google.

Just opened the map and Mela St is next to another family address in Ruthin Street.

Hi,

I am hoping someone can read this street name for me?

It's West Derby and the street existed in 1896.

TIA!

If he wandered off, there's Charles William Squires, died March qtr 1939, Surrey North Eastern, age 63.
Buried 6 March 1939 at Richmond Cemetery, section 1, grave 7295, with unrelated people. Don't think it's a female, as per Richmond's burial registers search!
That one is not Charles William Squire, born Mortlake in 1875, who died in Berkshire in 1936.

That looks to be the best bet, although there are other candidates, mainly due to age. My Charles William would have been 63 yrs and 8 months in March 1939.

Not that it helps much but his date of birth was 26th July 1875.

John

Mm...I've seen that in the birth register, but I have his birth cert which says 22nd.

Not such a star.
The image of the 1939 Register has has her as widowed. Sorry.

I should have spotted that, yes  :(

But the news-cutting is worthy of a star

On the 1939 Register Frances Maud is married and on her death is listed as a widow.

Oh! You star!  ;D

Yes, all the details fit for Maude's family. The only thing is that I do not know whether the couple had split up (she was living with her children in Liverpool by 1932, including one of her step-children in 1934) or whether Charles William had already died and she had moved home to Liverpool. Whatever the case, I now know he had died by 1944.

Thanks!
