Durham / Re: pearson from cumbria
« on: Monday 01 December 14 16:57 GMT (UK)  »
In my family history I have Thomas Gibson that married Mary Pearson
17 Jul 1826 Event Place: St Peter's Church, Burnley, Lancashire, England Marital Status: Single
Spouse's Name: Mary Pearson Spouse's Gender: Female Spouse's Marital Status: Single
GS Film Number: 001517692 ,  Digital Folder Number: 004420869 ,  Image Number:  00760
The Cumbria link being Thomas:-
Thomas Gibson Gender: Male Christening Date: 30 Dec 1799 Christening Place: Hawkshead, Lancashire, England Birth Date: 16 Aug 1799
*Father's Name: Thomas Gibson    residence Hawkshead (Ambleside) (Cumbria these days).
+ most other potential leads from that period seem to be Cumberland.

Is anybody able to prove a link between George Ison, married Ann, parents of Catharine Ison baptised 1810, to George's parents that may also be a George Ison that married an Ann?
My main helps so far have been findmypast and familysearch
Any help appreciated,
Mutly
---  relevant leads shown below.
Marriage  William Heath.  2 versions: CathErine & CathArine.      Spouse's Name:
Catherine Ison   Event Date: 1830   Event Place: St. Modwen'S, Burton-Upon-Trent, Stafford, England
Catharine Last name Ison Marriage year 1830 Marriage date 16 Oct 1830 Marriage place Burton upon Trent, St Modwen Denomination Anglican
Residence Burton Upon Trent Spouse's first name(s) William Spouse's last name Heath Spouse's Residence Burton Upon Trent
both of this parish
William and Catharine both signed their mark
Ann Ison (assume that is Catharine's mother) witnessed it by her mark (I cannot spot any other Ann Isons about locally during this period)
---
Catharine's brother's marriage:-
George Last name Ison Marriage year 1830 Marriage date 06 Feb 1830 Marriage place Burton upon Trent, St Modwen Denomination Anglican
Residence Rolleston Spouse's first name(s) Sarah Spouse's last name Cartmale Spouse's Residence Burton Upon Trent
Catharine witnessed it by her mark.
---
Catharine's sister's marriage:-
Elizabeth Last name Ison Marriage year 1824 Marriage date 24 Dec 1824 Marriage place Burton upon Trent, St Modwen Denomination Anglican
Residence Burton upon Trent Spouse's first name(s) Samuel Spouse's last name Watson Spouse's Residence Burton upon Trent
---
there are so many William Heath births showing in Staffs, and none in Horninglow, so it has been impossible to pin my William Heath down
----
Catharine Ison Gender: Female Christening Date: 12 Oct 1810 Christening Place: BURTON UPON TRENT,STAFFORD,ENGLAND
Father's Name: George Ison Mother's Name: Ann
It seems that the Ison children were all christened together:
Mary Ison Gender: Female Christening Date: 12 Oct 1810 Christening Place: Burton-upon-Trent, Stafford, England  Father's Name: George Ison Mother's Name: Ann
George Ison Gender: Male Christening Date: 12 Oct 1810  Christening Place: Burton-upon-Trent, Stafford, England
Elizabeth Ison Gender: Female Christening Date: 12 Oct 1810 Christening Place: BURTON UPON TRENT,STAFFORD,ENGLAND
----
prior Ison events at St Modwen's:
George Last name Ison Age 75 Birth year 1760 Death year 1835 Death date ? ? 1835 Burial year 1835 Burial date 26 Nov 1835 Burial place St Modwen
abode Burton
now, this George seems too old to be fathering children through the first decade of 1800's so, on balance of probabilities more likely (at least) one generation earlier.
----
Ann Last name Ison Death year 1810 Death date ? ? 1810 Burial year 1810 Burial date 12 Oct 1810 Burial place Burton Upon Trent, St Modwen Denomination Anglican
Spouse's first name(s) George
now, if it was Catharine/Catherine's mother that witnessed at Catharine.Catherine's marriage in 1830 then this cannot be her death, so was this Catharine's grandmother?
-----
I have kept this on one side just because it is exactly the right age to be that George's christening and is only George Ison event that comes back to that generation so it is a 'possible'.
George Ison Event Type: Christening Event Date: 12 Feb 1760 Event Place: Kingsbury, Warwickshire, England Gender: Male
Father's Name: George Ison   Mother's Name: Eliz Clarke
----
continuing that unproven link
George Ison   Gender:  Male Christening Date:  12 Feb 1713 Christening Place:  KINGSBURY,WARWICK,ENGLAND
Father's Name: George Ison  Mother's Name: Emma

Canada Lookup Request / Tipper Typper Tiper family
« on: Sunday 30 November 14 11:04 GMT (UK)  »
Wow, thanks Helena11a
that certainly unlocked the leads.
from what you provided initially
James Tipper buried 15th August 1851 of Tutbury age 68
Sarah Tipper buried 28th February 1853 of Tutbury age 65
This ties in with
James son of Samuel and Sarah baptised 25th December 1782 Tutbury
---
I have then linked:-

---

the first child of 7 listed could have been born when Samuel was ~22yrs and final child when he was ~40, which is credible.

Canada Lookup Request / James Tipper Shoemaker lived Church Lane/Street tutbury 1841
« on: Saturday 29 November 14 09:22 GMT (UK)  »
please excuse my ignorance Helena11a.
I have tired several avenues but have not been able to verify who the parents of this James Tipper are?
Staffordshire 1841 Census Transcript
Address: Church Lane   Parish: Tutbury  Registration District: Tutbury, Staffordshire   (First property listed on Church Lane after Castle Street so it could be Church Street)
Tipper  James  55 1786  Shoe Maker   Yes   HO107/0976/~F19      my 4x great Grandfather.
Tipper  Sarah  50 1791     No   HO107/0976/~F19   nee Martin, marriage 01JAN1810 at Tutbury
Tipper  Ann  12 1829     Yes   HO107/0976/~F19

I have found loads of male Tippers in the vicinity that are of suitable age to have been his father and one, a Samuel Tipper who married a Sarah, at least shows a son James christened at Tutbury - in December 1781 - a date that does not tally with the 1841 census but isn't too far off - but I know it is very dangerous for me to presume anything.
----
If I can make the link above then there is some chance I can link through to a George Tipper who married Elizabeth Hanson 21APR1746 and had several children baptised locally - this George is a suitable age and, at that time, there seemed far fewer Tippers appearing locally.
-
Back from that possibly a link to Ann Tipper buried 23FEB1746 at Tutbury, daughter of George????

Please excuse me asking.  What is PR?
I visited the vicinity in September.  It helped a lot.  St Werburghs is a mine of information.  Took photo of an Archer gravestone that I later found to be my GGGGGG Grandparents.  I hope to visit again.
