Hello; I am desperate for help please. Discovered who my Biological Father could be, but need to be certain. As he has passed away 10 years ago, had no Wife or Children, there are no relatives who have the information I need. His name was Thomas John Conkey, known as "Jack," born Northern Ireland 1922, died Warwick 2008. He was a Chef. My Mother Kathleen Glennon, was a waitress in Birmingham. I assume that's how they could have known each other. But I need to know where they could have worked at same time. I was conceived 1949. A Thomas Conkey lived in Birmingham, Ladywood in 1945 and 1955, according to Electoral Roll on Ancestry, but I would like to know where he would have worked, then I would know where he knew my Mother. I live in Ireland, and due to Disability cannot travel to make enquiries, so hoping some kind person can please advise me. Many thanks.

Thanks very much Sinnan - I am beginning to think James is actually Michael - judging by those records, as he died in 1924 aged 50ish, and that would certainly tally - he may have been Christened Michael, but called Jim in the family. He was a Herd on Carrollstown Estate, and died while milking a cow! I just wish there were house records, but it does not look like it, as Carrollstown House burned down in 1938 and probably records went too, which would have given names of those who worked there, which was what I really needed. I'll just have to be satisfied with what I've got. Appreciate your help. (Unfortunately records at Dunderry Parish don[t start till 1837, a few years after Bridget Leonard, nee Fagan was born.)

Yes Bridget was a Fagan, I can't find out who her Parents were. She married Michael Leonard, and they had children Mary, Christopher (my G.G.G.F) Patrick, Rose Ann, there may have been a Michael, James, and a John who is said to have gone to U.S.A and married a Lady who had Polo Pony stables, but can't get confirmation of this. Mary married John Brady, Christopher - Julia Caffrey and Mary Murray; Patrick - Possibly Jane Connor; Rose Ann - John Garry; James - Anne Kane. Thank you for your help, its much appreciated. I have quite a bit of information, but not enough to complete my family tree!!

Thank you so much for that insight, and it would certainly make sense of what my Grandmother told me. Unfortunately I wasn't interested enough in Genealogy to question her more!

Yes definitley them, I don't know why they did not marry earlier as he became a widower in 1919, but maybe Mary's first husband was still alive. They married 3 years before Christopher's death in 1940. I can't get a Birth for Mary - according to 1911 Census, she was born 1865 in Co Meath, but don't know where in Meath. I don't know where she was in 1901, or when she and Christopher met. They would have descendents, but I can't seem to trace them, in spite of putting messages on various sites. I may try local Newspaper next.  Thanks for all the help.

I am very sorry, but I thought there might have been more information that I hadn't found.

Thank you so much. Information much the same as what I've got. You see, G.G.F Christopher Leonard was married to Julia Caffrey in 1886 at Kilbride, Co Meath - they had 6 children, and in 1897 she was committed to the then Asylum at Mullingar where she had their last child. Christopher and the children were in the Workhouse in Trim, in 1901, but by 1911 he was with Mary Murray having a second family. It is possible that the eldest child Mary, was the child of her first Husband, Mr Dempsey. I am descended from Christopher Leonard and Julia Caffrey, but am very curious to know more about Mary Leonard nee Murray, her Father was Patrick Murray according to their marriage record. But I don't know her Husband's first name. I am ALMOST certain Mary came from Trim area, definitley Co Meath born 1865. Thank you.

My Great Grandfather married a Lady called Mary; she was born in 1865 in County Meath, location not known, and her Father was Patrick Leonard a Labourer. She first married a man called Dempsey, first name not known. She is listed on the 1911 Census living with my Great Grandfather, Christopher Leonard at 22 Hendrick Lane, Dublin where they had 5 children, Mary, John and Kathleen (Twins) James and Christina. I would like to know more about Mary. Any information about Mary would be appreciated.
