Seaforth 1939 are you on Ancestry?
There is a well researched family tree on there which has lots of information on William Beaton and Robina McLean which ties in with what you have. Also, a photo of them.

You could contact the tree owner to see if they could help you if not I would do this for you.

This is happening all over Scotland because of dwindling numbers attending church these days.

I enjoyed reading the article.

My daughter has worked for the C of S for 40 years and says things are dire with them financially. Hence the need to sell churches.

St Monans in Fife is an example of this and a Community buy out. Lots of fundraising events to raise the money.

Nothing coming up for him on Find a grave or Deceased on line.

You could try Fife Council Bereavement Services. Family History Enquiries Section. There is a form to fill out and a small fee of £5.00 I believe. Then email this to  bereavementservices@fife.gov.uk. Just follow the online instructions.

I have found them very helpful in the past.

Good luck.

Scotland / Re: James Heron RSA help please

For information regarding Scottish Wills -

Wills registered between 1925 and 1999 have not been digitised and may only be consulted in the Historical Search Room at National Records of Scotland. The printed calendar of Confirmation is the yearly Index to these Wills.
Wills from 2000 have not yet been transferred to NRS. For further information you should contact The Commissary Department, Edinburgh Sheriff Court, 27 Chambers Street, Edinburgh.

The Index is what appears on Ancestry.

Also in Scotland there is no such thing as Probate. It is called Confirmation.

Hope someone may find this useful.

There is a new Nathan Dylan Goodwin - Morton Farrier - book published in November 2025. The Hop Picker Murders. It is £18.99 for the Hardback and £6.99 for the Kindle version. Both available from Amazon.
A bit pricey unless you have Christmas money/vouchers to spend and want to treat yourself.  :) :)

Happy reading folks,

Family History Beginners Board / Re: Hospital birth 1944

I was born in 1946 to a first time mum who was aged 28.

It should have been a home birth but after 2 days in labour with no sign of me making an appearance mum was taken to the Maternity Hospital where she had a forceps delivery. Dad always complained that I was expensive as he had to pay half a crown (2/6d in old money)
