Cornwall Completed Lookup Requests / Joseph HOOPER Family
« on: Monday 20 October 08 13:19 BST (UK)  »
I have a Joseph Hooper born 1862 or 1863 and born in Cornwall (where I dont know!). He was already a widower when he married for a second time in Bathurst NSW in 1897 at the of age 34. His parents were John Hooper and Harriet Trescott and have no more details on them. Any connections of information would be welcome as his descendants are a bigger brick wall then he is!

William John Austin Hooper was born in Bathurst NSW in 1901.

William is my current brick wall ( and has been for some time) Family lore tells that he moved to NZ sometime after the Second world war, never to be seen or heard from again.

Looking for any information on his death or his movement to NZ post 1940.

Thanks

Australia / HOOPER and the case of the disappearing one
« on: Sunday 16 March 08 23:42 GMT (UK)  »
William John Austin HOOPER was born in Bathurst 1901.

William is my current brick wall (and has been for some time),  the information I currently have, are his birth details, Marriage certificate, WW2 air-force papers and that is it. Family lore tells me that he left, possibly to NZ, never to be seen again and sadly thats where it stops.

I dont have any further information, so any suggestions on where to look for deaths or passenger lists to NZ post World War 2 would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

Sorry for the delay in coming back to you!

As usual, I never cease to be amazed at what turns up and how helpful you all are!

Can confirm James marriage to one Ann Thomson circa 1852 in Aberdeen. Have been through Familysearch have found three James Flinns born around 1827, two in Ireland, one in Aberdeen, so at this stage cant confirm which one he is. The Lanarkshire connection mentioned is interesting, will follow that up. I do believe that he is the man in Newcastle on cencus night 1881.

This is where the Montrose bit comes into it, I did find a death of a James Flinn, Journeyman in Montrose ( I dont have it with me at the moment, so cant be exact) circa 1886? But the age is wrong, then again anythings possible!

Thanks again!

Looking for information on Austin william John HOOPER, possibly also known as William Austin John HOOPER.

He was born 1901, I have no date of death. He lived in NZ for a time and worked for the Auckland printing Co for a period of 12 years. He may have been born in NZ  and returned there during or after the second world war.

Any information greatly appreciated

Looking for information on AUSTIN WILLIAM JOHN HOOPER possibly also known as WILLIAM AUSTIN JOHN. Born 1901 in places unknown, his application to join the RAAF during  WW2 gives his date of birth and marriage but no place of birth is shown.

He worked in Auckland NZ for a period and this is where family legend has him return to. No information on death.

Any information on his life or deah in NZ or Australia would be great !!
