The George Joseph Owen you are talking about is my uncle. He was killed on the Somme on Oct 8/1916 at the age of 25. He was born at 9 Mackenzie St, Liverpool; son of John Owen. For some reason I am unaware of he served in the London Regiment (Royal Fusiliers) 1st/3rd Bn. not a Liverpool regiment like his brothers. His name is on the Thiepval Memorial, Pier and Faces 9 D and 18 B. His family consisted of two brothers and a sister; one of the brothers, John, was my father.
I would be interested to hear why you are searching for him and would like to have a reply to see if I could help further. I currently live in Canada.
