I've got some photos of the churchyard. Unfortunately a lot of stones have become too worn to see any inscriptions. The ones I could read were not Batsfords I'm afraid.  If you would like the photos I've taken, please message me and I'll send them on email. I've attached a link with information about the church which you may find interesting.

I agree with those that say not to be put off. Lots of help is available by willing people. Obviously the more info you provide, the better. As long as people know that's all you have, then the challenge is no barrier to what can be achieved! :)

The link above takes you to a newsletter from the forest of dean history society.  Interesting information under the title "lost houses" about Rodley Manor or Rodleys.  This may be a start for you.

It would be well worth contacting the above as they will be able to tell you which newspapers were in circulation at that time and may (for a fee) do a microfilm search of local papers (unless a local person would volunteer?) They would hopefully also be able to search or recommend other sources of information regarding dock workers and local people who have collections/interest in the area.  Good luck!

Just in case you didn't know the original question (it was one of your earlier ones) I have some info on this post regarding the Spread Eagle Hotel and Mrs Ellis.
