Hi DudleyWinchurch,
I know it's been a bit since you posted, but, I have a John O'Brien and his son Charles O'Brien, both born in Dublin that were bootmakers. They immigrated to San Francisco. Wonder if they are part of the same family you are researching

Hi there,
Can anyone please identify the place name mentioned in this birth registry. I know that the family came from the Urquhart area in Invernesshire. Thank you so much. Sheila

Hi DoireM,
Here is a link to a website that has many early California newspapers.
https://cdnc.ucr.edu/cgi-bin/cdnc?a=q&l=en&leqX=&oa=1&src=
If you use "advertisements" to specify what you are looking for, it will come up with births, marriages and deaths. It's a great tool for early San Francisco research!
Good luck. Sheila

Ozranga & Blue,
Thank you both so much!
I guess a public grave would be used if the deceased was down on his luck?

Hi there,
Could I please get a look up? George Williams, buried 15 Dec 1904 at Ford Cemetary. Address is Stanley Hospital. His grave number is either X 421 or 2A 421...the registry was a tad confusing ;D
I'm not sure who else would be in the grave. His wife's name was Thirza. Thank you so much. Sheila

Sinann, Aghadowey and Hallmark,
Thank you so much for your help. Yes, that is definitely the record for both Matthew and Bridget, I don't believe the Mary is the right one. I have found mostly civil reg for the family, baptismal certs are def not easy to find. My great grandmother, Margaret Rudden, who immigrated to San Francisco, told my dad she was from Stradone. However, her birth registration was from Cootehill...although the parents are listed as living in Cordingin.
I am 99 percent certain the 1911 census is the correct one. I realize the name as Susan is wrong, but, the son living with them stayed on the farm..as did his son. And the names of the son's wife and children are all a match...Two came to California and I was able to trace them.
So, if I assume the marriage certificate I sent for that lists a Patt Ruddin marrying a Bridget McEnroe might be the correct one. And she is listed as being from Tullyvin, which RC parish would cover that area?
Thanks again. Sheila
