I have James Ballantine b.abt 1795 Kirkoswald Ayrshire died 1873 in Glassford.
His reputed father was James Ballantine,Tailor, who married Margaret Shearer at Eastwood Renfrew in 1798.
James and Margaret had two sons that I know of in Stonehouse Lanarkshire

[Also interested to learn who were the parents of Helen Wyllie born 09 Aug 1846 in Mauchline Ayrshire who married a Cuthbert Nairn on 29 Apr 1824 in Mauchline Ayrshire. Cutherbert was born 02 Feb 1824 Fenwick Ayrshire.

Helen Wyllie's parents were William Wyllie and Jean Richmond.William and Jean are my 4x gt Grandparents.I don't have a Margaret born to William and Jean but there is a gap of 5 years between John b. 1819 and Helen b. 1824 so it's just possible Margaret could have been born in there sometime.
My tree is on GR if you're a member look me up.

Hi Guys

My other half is a direct descendent of Robert Meikle and Agnes Stobo. Unfortunately he has not been able to get details of Robert's parents but does have Agnes's.

Agnes was born 18/5/1770 in Stonehouse to James Stobo and Martha Alison.

Children of Robert and Agnes were

- William Meikle, b.27/9/1801, Kypewaterhead; d.17/4/1872, Kypewaterhead
- James Meikle, b.27/12/1803, Kypewaterhead
- Robert Meikle, b.9/11/1805, Kypewaterhead
- John Meikle, b.12/7/1808, Kypewaterhead
- Martha Meikle, b.20/11/1815, Kypewaterhead; d.5/6/1857, Kypeside
