Hello, I am trying to trace Daniel McNeill and Mary Darroch's birth and links to Ireland as well as information on their parents. It is over 9 years since you posted this. My wife's father, Gavin McNeill, was the son of Jock McNeill, a son of William who may have been a brother of great grandfather.
Any clarification on your line would be appreciated very much. Thanks for your consideration.

found son james marriage certificate had managed to trace down to Daniel and the only record I could find was the 1851 census thankfully my uncle and my dads aunt gave me the more recent information I knew Daniel lived in pollockshaws but although they knew all about James very little about Daniel as you probably realised my maiden name is mcneill my dad was James mcNeill he was brought up with his grandparents Daniel was his g/ggrandad ill get back onto scotlands people tommorrow and fill in the blanks thanks to you and Carole I can do that now I cant thank you enough :)

Cavan / Re: Emigration to Canada 1820
« on: Tuesday 06 October 15 05:39 BST (UK)  »
Hi Ken,
1820 is a tough year to find immigration information. Most of the detail starts later, 1865.
The Library and Archives of Canada has some detail and there are shipping lists for vessels coming up the St. Lawrence River. http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/immigration/Pages/introduction.aspx

I am looking for Bell family that emigrated in 1820 while I find the surname, there is little to identify the person in any way.

Good luck.

Jack

Wicklow / Re: Ireland birthplace of Joseph McGee

Elwyn, thank you for your thoughtful reply. Unfortunately, there is little information about Joseph's past other than the County Wicklow connection and his being a Methodist. I will follow up with Edgehill Theological College. Thank you.

Wicklow / Ireland birthplace of Joseph McGee
« on: Wednesday 01 July 15 23:17 BST (UK)  »
My great grandfather Joseph McGee was born in County Wicklow abt. 1827. He was a Methodist, so non-conforming. He emigrated to Wellington County, Arthur Township (near Guelph), Ontario, Canada in 1857 and married Susan Maccrae (McCrae) of Scotland. Joseph's. They had eight children including a son Joseph who married Martha Peavoy and subsequently Mary Jackson. Joseph died at a young age of 44 and there is no information on cause or place of death.
I would be interested in any advice on how to locate Joseph's birthplace and identify his ancestors.
Thanks

Antrim / Re: Coastguard - North Antrim
« on: Sunday 28 June 15 05:54 BST (UK)  »
Thanks all for this remarkable information. I am researching the McNeill line for my wife whose father was Guy McKenzie McNeill and her great grandfather was William McNeill b. abt 1835 whose father was Daniel McNeill b. abt 1812  married to Mary Darroch. It seems Daniel was a Superintendent of the Antrim Coast Guard, which is fascinating to me as I was in the RCN.
I am interested in learning more about Daniel, his family and his father Daniel and mother Rachel Luke and families. What I have seen on these and other posts is very helpful.  http://www.rootschat.com/forum/Smileys/classic/grin.gif

This is interesting. I am looking for a Daniel McNeill born abt. 1812 and married to Mary Darroch so this could be him. It is a great, great, great grandfather. He had a son William
Daniel died in Glasgow on Sep 17 1861
